Acrylic painting. I felt like painting ravens, and I wanted to paint them at night, gathering by some trees.....and this is what came out. Im not sure how I feel about the result.....maybe it's to detailed....maybe the sky should be in more action....Im not sure. Any suggestions??Related content

My most favorite bird is the Raven. I feel connected to this painting. I could get lost in it's night sky and fly like the Raven too.

i like this image, especially for the detail in how the birds are moving/sitting and reacting. perhaps the sky should be darker, but if you're going for a feel, i say add in some clouds. kind of blot the moon out a bit, let it have light rays poke through. or try to get an element of fog. that might give it more bang in addition to the sky darkening (if you do it).
either way its a good image/painting.

Like out of an Edgar Allan Poe story.... Very sharp contours and lines. The bird's motions are very well captured. Yes, maybe the sky could have been a bit more marble, but hey--artistic freedom....nice,

this is nicely done. i agree with the comment about a darker sky but it might not be what you were trying for. i look forward to your next one, but this one looks great. i'd like to see some more of them in front of the moon too, but thats because i'm a contrast junkie

This is awesome, ravens have such a sinister feeling about them,
I feel like if you made the sky darker and more ominous, that would make it a bit more macabre.
That would suit my style, maybe not yours, of course.

yes, thought about that, would give it more feeling I guess. I think Im gonna do another one with ravens, maybe not so close-up, and I'll make it "darker"...hmm....have to go sketch on that now! thanks for the comment!!

I like it. It has a great sense of depth, and your color scheme is so cool and calm, much like the still of night. The flight of the birds shows a sense of chaos, as they're all flying in different directions... but they are scavenger birds. Perhaps they are circling over some carnage or food or something?
Anyhow, they give the picture an interesting twist, what with mixing the element of Serenity and Chaos.
This is really well-done.
