Wanted to them for a while now and finally finished them
I have not watched "The Hobbit" yet, but I was very inspired by Thranduils crown as depicted in the movie
So this is my own version^^The antlers are sculpted very detailed from polymerclay, ainted with Citadel-Colors, decorated with green glasscabochons at the bases. They are safely attached on the headband - which I´ll repaint if the customer want so

^^ I sculpted the antlers from FIMO polymerclay and attached them after baking on the plastic headband, using simple hotglue
First I worried such big horns would be to heavy, but if you sculpt the branches thin enough its alright. Also: the instructions say to bake the clay 30min, but I bake it only 20min. - this way the sculpted parts are a bit more flexible and can´t break so easily.

No, there´s no wire armature^^ Its hard to get the clay stick right on wire, I only use armatures with bigger sculptures, like animals or figures~

Wow, it looks almost perfectly natural! You have such attention to detail with the thin lines curling across the antler parts.

Did you mean "which I'll repaint if the customer wants"?

Not very much - at least I dropped it three times now, two times badly, and it survived until the photoshoot
At fitrst I worried if all the fine branches might break off, but it seems I sculpted them good enough on the big main branch

I'm betting she has a wire armature underneath the clay, so it probably isn't as fragile as we might think it is.

Ah, okay; I just figured an armature was used because most sculptors I've seen on here use them. But I'm glad it's a solid build; it's a difficult craft, working with polymer clay. For me, at least.
