Very pretty. I like the way you've drawn her hair, and the orange tree looks really neat. Nice work.

I love the colors!!hmm the top rectangles..maybe the other half of the orange tree?I know it would make it more abtract, but yeah i think it wuod look cool. And the smaller rectangle lookes like it was cut out of that part where the branches spread, so maybe just draw that missing piece. I just love your style ^_^

I think night sky or at least a darker sky towards the top - it would be nice to have a hint of orange/yellow [like one or two rings of the circels], something subtle, to echo the oranges on the tree and the flowers of the cactus. Thou having said that it might make the composition to even, I'm not sure.
theres also a tangent between the tree branch and her hair - you see the hair thats on the white its thouching the bottom of the tree branch, cus they are thouching right at the bottom like that it looks like they are joined and when i first looked at the image my eye contnected the hair to the tree and not her.
I know what your saying about the face, there is something a little off. It might be that the hairline is back very far - it looks like her hair is really being pulled back. Does that help at all?
Love her necklace.

more towers from that castle maybe? it should be something brighter, to contrast with the hair...or not? i really love the swirls in her hair anyway...

"more towers from that castle maybe?" actually, I could have been a great idea.... but now I can't realizze it without redoing the whole drawing.... I'll keep in mind for my next drawing that, in my mind, will be rather similar to this one! thank you so much for commenting! and sorry for a such late reply!

Well it is entitled after the storm so how about those dark and ominous indigo clouds that hang around after a storm... or at least some abstract suggestion of those clouds... I like it a lot though despite what you may feel about it.

I love how the swirls echo the tree branches (or maybe vice versa). I second JB, I think blue would continue better, keep the picture balanced. But maybe instead of night- or day-swirls, what about a different texture, perhaps clouds? Or a gradient, starting sky blue and turning to night blue at the top, as though you were looking up through the atmosphere?

Galhad In reply to biku-no-kiba [2007-02-27 23:47:15 +0000 UTC]
thank you very much for the nice comment! Yes the blue would be the most natural choice.... but as isaid i might also breack the airy and light feel of the illustration....
I believe that your idea to make a gradient is very interesting... it might give a more evocative looking to the whole compositiom... I'll try it on a draft copy to see the effect I can reach!

It is lovely, I would suggest the orange swirls, because the image could easily loose its airy and light feel with too much blue. You'd also get a repetition int he orange colour through he necklace.
The nigh sky could easily break the fine balance.
