so dis bitch DayonXVIII told me I should do this, and I was liek "okie." SO THIS HAPPENED. pardon the messyness on the braches, this was a bit rushed. I probably could have done a bit more on the face as well, but I'm happy with the result. I probably should have used a proper reference though, I just used my nose, eyes, and mouth as a reference to get the basics down, and then chenged them to fit the character. I'm not expert in this style so I hope it looks alright to you!!!Related content

I AM ACTUALLY DRAWING MORE BECAUSE I REAL NEED TO GET THESE IDEAS OUT OF MY HEAD!!! it's such a pain in the ass because I want to draw so much but even a simple drawing can take up to 4 hours and a drawing with a background is around 20 hrs. And it hurts to draw too much ;^; damnit I guess I'll have to work faster.

Hahah I know the feeling, and yeh it takes me about 2 hours to do a fast paint sketch (simple bg) and I almost never do complicated BGs, cuz...screw that xD I'll get to that ocne I feel like I mastred all the shading. But yeh I decent drawing would take a whole day to finish; you will get faster in time practice. It gets tedious, but its the price we have to pay to become better.Β

Thank you, lol that was actually my very 1st real background, and it took me a while to figure out. Trick is, Don't over do the details, keep it simiple but visible at same time. Tricky.
You will get faster, and yeh that happenes to me too; try to fix and add things, next thing I know a whole hour went by by me just earsing; results? trash. But hey, we only learn when we make mistakes.Β

WOAHH really!? Your 1st!? That's pretty damn impressive for your first time I would have never guessed. AHHH I see, for my backgrounds I put way more detail in the foreground since that's where the viewer needs to focus more, and the background I try to fade it out a bit. But me being a damn idiot, when I was making that Corvus Corax drawing (the really blue one) I was dumb enough to spend SO MUCH TIME ON THE DESTROYED BUILDINGS BUT IN THE END MOST OF THEM ENDED UP BEING COVERED BY THE FOG!!! ARGHHH!

Lel but hey it is still visible even if the fog surround it xD By the way, if you like to focus on backgrounds, why not try to draw only a background or some sort of a scenery without a character? that way you can focus only on the bg and not bother with the character.

Hmmmm well, as interesting as that sounds, idk because I really like drawing characters, and without a character, that means your background has to be 10 times better than before ^^" I don't think I'm ready for that yet. But I could do a drawing where I still include a character but the focal point of the drawing is the background, I've done that before. But it's not just backgrounds I need to focus on, that's another reason why I usually include a character AND a background. Maybe when I'm confident enough in my skills, I've seen artists who only paint backgrounds and......its fucking amazing, there's no way I could do that XD....yet

Yeah I do include backgrounds a lot and I don't know why...it's a whole lot of effort.....but it adds interest to the picture, I think if I only drew characters with no background it wouldn't be good enough on its own, but if I do a character plus a background then I'm more pleased with it ^^

Yeah if we're talking illustrations then that's pretty important, but if you just work with Character design then who gives a shit about the background.
I think with portraits it even looks better without a background, or maybe just a simple background. Since the focus is supposed to be the character. But a background helps set the scene and the storytelling too. Still a pain in the ass to make them though
