Yes, he's a dark elf (Drow) from Dungeons & Dragons games. So pretty supernatural.

I noticed a lot of people focus on the "bulge" in these kinds of pics and I don't really notice/focus on it.

Also, you should use tags, but not thirty million of them. I once saw a pic that had cryinggirl, cryingtears, crying, and girl, as well as bondagebound, bondagegagged, bondage, boundgirl. And that seems like it's too many. Bondage, gagged, girl, tears, crying should do the trick. What confuses me the most is bondagebound. Why is that there as opposed to simply "bondage"?

Oh, he's gorgeous! Β Β I adore drow, they're so mysterious and handsome. I love the loincloth, too! The belt buckle is a really beautiful design, it looks very elegant and elven.Β

That's probably because I generally like the body models more than the costume models!

Is it that bad? Or do you prefer underwear to everything else?

No, I don't think it's that bad. There are some great costumes, but I don't want to hide all the amazing work that goes into the bodies either, so I feel happy to compromise. It's also due to the fact that I enjoy entertaining people and a fully dressed up character tends not to be popular. It's a style that I'm known for, and that also pleases me. I enjoy diversity, and this is my contribution to it.

Ah yes, I love this skin. I've been using it a lot lately for some D&D characters, though I've been repainting the eyebrows so they all look different. Very nicely done (and speaking of eyebrows, I'm going to assume he dyes his hair).

Most of what I post here are my less refined works, but if you'd be interested in reading more, I could see if dA allows me to provide a PDF download (that's how I send stuff to my BFF to read, and I know she uses a Kindle too). Fair warning about Edge of Thorns: it is incomplete with no plans to finish, but I did write up a debriefing journal to close up all the loose ends.
I'm not particularly familiar with Iray, as I prefer to use the Reality plugin for Daz and render in LuxRender, but I know a thing or two about rendering white hair. I have quite a few characters with white hair, including many, many drow and at least one "drow" Β (a changeling, really). The trick is to give it a very slight blue tint to the spec color, which makes it appear "whiter" when rendered. Many textures for white hair are too gray, so I tend to lighten them up in Photoshop, sometimes adding a tint of blue there too.

It doesn't look like I have a way to share pdfs, alas. Perhaps try to convert the page itself? There are a few good virtual printers (Cute PDF comes to mind) that allow you to print as a pdf, so that may be a possibility.
Good luck with the hair! And if anything, just experiment. A little trial and error is how I figured it out.

Not to worry, Kate. I do quite a bit of document creation as part of my job (which also means I have access to the tools) so I'm sure I can sort something out.

Yes, I use Vue, it seems better for me to make large scenes and I prefer the renderΒ of the Vue engine to the one of Poser. A lot of people in 3D made close up of characters, but if you are not good at large scene (maybe you should try), I for myself am not good for close up. Imperfect textures andΒ expressions, mostly.

FyraNuanser In reply to jmb200960 [2017-06-16 00:07:35 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I agree. Even though I have never used it, the renders I've seen show me that Vue is clearly superior for scenes of a larger scope. I think it's good that we artists have our own preferences and strengths and weaknesses as this leads to diversity. My favourited artworks are almost always in a medium or style that is very different to my own.
