Honest is best: It's never cute/flattering/etc. when someone says things like, "this reminds me of...", especially concerning original concept design.

I typically refrain from such comments but the resemblance is uncanny! I mean no offense whatsoever or any implications, I was just surprised by the similarities.

I just looked up that pokemon out of curiosity: They both seem to be wearing baggy pants, but other than that universally common bit...they are so far from "uncanny" resemblance, they're in different dimensions. 
Thankfully, I haven't gotten such a comment in a long time

I meant more in the colors. Red tail tip, black chest and stomach, orange body, baggy beige pants. The only color missing is the light blue.

"black chest and stomach"?: That's a shirt. The others colors/ placements are pretty common.
But woah..when I googled the pokemon name, I didn't see a black chest and stomach (google took me to that...pokemon wiki...bulba-something): Pokemon do more than one version of the same evolution now? I never followed pokemon, I just know the basics

I barely know the basics myself. I got lost after gen 2. They keep coming and coming though! Regardless, it's a very unique and fun design! Once I have some more free money I look forward to commissioning you again!
