It was a little difficult to know where to go with this pic, as the image of Death riding a trike is kinda funny. However, that image reminded me of a beautiful little girl who was murdered years ago. A friend of mine knew the family well and told me that her step dad was so heartbroken when she disappeared that he used to cry whilst riding her trike around.....the image stayed with me and this is how it manifested itself..A huge thank you to the following stock resources:

Thank you. It was a visual image I've held in my mind for a while, it was so emotionally powerful and sad. I think I would have done a more light hearted pic if it weren't for the instant trigger of the memory.

Not too bleak just truthful. It's beautifully lit which I think enhances the sadness; I nearly lost my own daughter to illness when she was three months old so this resonates with me.

Thank you for that reassurance, I wanted it to have the beauty of memories as well as the sadness. And the fact that it resonated with you after your own experience of near loss means a lot to me as an artist.

Seeing that stock image of Death on a bike must have been a bit of trigger for you to create this particular piece. And what a wonderful job you've done of it too- it's so darkly atmospheric, the composition is wonderful... and the emotional narrative just speaks volumes.

I know, and it has stayed with me. The trike was definitely the trigger! It's also the anniversary of my friend's son's suicide, so it's been a dark weekend of sorts....hence the emotional narrative speaking so loudly I guess
