Description Sunshine rays shone down through an open kitchen window. I stood silently cooking some rice. I looked up into the Sun. if you looked closely you could see the tears glistening around my eyes and the drying tear tracks that raced down my face. My lips trembled as I remembered yesterday. My eyes shut tight.
My class had gone on a field trip to the zoo. On the way I confessed my long time love to a guy that had been a long time crush. He said the same. The whole time we were at the zoo he held my hand. Later I came home and practiced my saxophone thinking of the night before of how I had won the talent show. My great day ended when my parents came home with unreadable expressions.
"How was the zoo?" my dad asked solemnly. I ignored him and looked to my mom. She had taken our cat Jambalaya to the vet that morning. I had seen them walk in without his crate.
"Where is Jam?" I demanded. One look from my mom and I burst into tears. My dad's arms encircled me and I cried on his shoulder for an hour. He gently slid away. I stopped suddenly and turned away with a straight face. He looked at me sympathetically. I jumped to my feet and sprinted out the door. Two of my friends were outside. They raced after me. Tears were streaming down my face and the hiccups were unstoppable. There was only one person on my mind. I took side alleys to ditch my poor friends but it was for the best.
Back at my house I grabbed my case and ran out once again.
I ran for a long time, through fields full of Indian-Paintbrush and Calla Lily. Cars beeped as I ran in front of intersections without stopping. I slowed to a stop in a neighborhood. I slid open my phone and sent a quick message. 5 minutes my new boyfriend came and took me gently. We walked to the park together. He had a guitar out on the gazebo. I eased my case open with a couple muffled sobs. Without any words he and I started playing together. The notes from both Sax and Guitar harmonized together. The sorrowful notes flowed out and floated up to the darkening sky. Matt slipped away to his house for a minute to hide the cases. I sat alone on the slide. Moonlight glowed softly when a shadow moved soundlessly to my resting place. Matt and I sat down on the grass and stared up at the sky full of bright shining stars. Soon I left without sound and spent the night at a friends. The next day I walked home and walked through the door breathlessly.
Now I stand here and think of my beautiful Jambalaya who now floats through the stars with God and His angels. Good-bye Jambalaya. You will always be with me
