Description This is not any specific french tank, just sort of a generalization of all french tanks in the first year of WWII. It is ink and watercolour pencil.

I was just faking it. Sometimes I'm too lazy to look up the proper reference.

I would say this looks more like a combination of a Sherman with the turret of a Renault. Also, judgining by your deviant artworks, i take your a treadhead like me right? Would you say the American tanks and even Japanese and Italians were influenced by the French tank designs?

I seem to focus on WWII armour but I enjoy making up my own designs using bits from all over. (going by what I feel I know, what you suggest seems possible as French designs were the superior vehicle in those early days of WWII. Only the German's superior tactics overwhelmed the French and their adherence to tank combat as a "Naval Warfare" exercise. It is also boltered by the eagerness of germans to capture and absorb french tanks into their own brigades whenever possible.)

I also enjoy making up tank designs mostly futuristic ones inspired by vintage ww1-ww2 tanks. Cold War ones look so bland compared to the "exoticness" of old ones like machinegun armed tanks or multiple turrets. I enjoy drawing doodles at school of my tank designs. Maybe later i'll scan em and put them online to show you guys.

Also, i've been having a realy freaky idea of combining a gothic cathedral(lots of skulls) with a tank to create a super-heavy tank loaded with guns of different calibre (800mm anyone?).

Hope to see them sometime soon.

Have you heard of the "Carthedral?" [link]

For a generalisation it looks remarkably like a Somua (S35?)

That's pretty much it. I like the solid, stubby nature of WWII French armour.

yeah, they had some good tanks, they just didn't use them well. The S35 was probably one of the best medium tanks until 41/42.

The one-man turrets and small crews made the vehicles inefficient to fight on a hectic battlefield.

yeah, but it had decent armour, a decent main armament and was reasonably good crosscountry. If properly organised, like the Germans did when they used them, they could make up for that.

Also, just to correct myself, I meant 40/41 not 41/42. My bad.

I agree.(the germans used them against their makers any time they got their hands on one. Just a quick paint job and a unit number and new addition to the panzer division) (I'm sure you know all this)

That would be great! Would you design your own or research an existing one? My first thought would be a WWII German Tiger I. It has a lot of flat surfaces and a semi-cylindrical turret.

Usually some particular piece of junk suggests a component or feature of whatever i have in mind and i take it from there.I'd imagine i'll make my own design as most things i make seem to develop as i go along.I have a few other things in the pipeline before i get to the tank though.
