Description Project for my Digital ink & paint class at the Art Institute. We were just supposed to do 5 character/creature sketches then pick 1 we liked best & color it in using the current shading technique we had learned. I chose to do a darker, more macabre version of the Tooth fairy.

Started out as a quick monochromatic piece with highlights, midtones, & then shadows . Then we were instructed to make 3 different complimentary color versions for the shadings & highlights. Decided to do 6 all together by switching the complimentary colors around.

The design of the head is based on the shape of a tooth, hence the two large protruding gums on the side of the regular teeth.

I think my favorite color scheme is the blue & orange one on the very top right.

These deep shadows really enhance the creepy atmosphere of drawing! How did you come up with such a version of tooth fairy?

Well usually when it comes to creature designing I become influenced by what I see on FaceOff. I was just watching it & immediately came up with the design out of nowhere. Just popped into my head.
