Well i'm actually also a beginner but this is kind of simple to make you just need a lot of time (1h is good), a reflex is a good point also if you want to focus and take shots rapidly, it's a lot more easier! i used a macro lens and my bridge for this cause it doent fit my reflex, you need to place a large bowl in your sink and fill it up with water till it spills over. Then you set your tap so that it lets a waterdrop fall in the center of the bowl, a leaking tap would be proper. and you shoot when the drop falls. you need to set the obturation speed consequently (i set it at 1/800s) and a good light, then you can vary the distance from the tap and the bowl, the color backgrounds etc.
