I did more art yesterday (these 3 pieces) than I have in three months. SO SAD.This is a deer inspired by a couple of statues I have that are posed in a similar style. I was originally going to make the deer and ground silhouetted but then it looked like snow so I kept it.

This is beautiful. its the kind of christmas-y art that i love the most. but i have one question. how did you get the speckles? i guese you kind of splattered paint, right? how did you it without globbing up?

thanks! I didn't realize it was kind of christmasy but it is, whoops.
It was splattered ink, which is fluid, so it doesn't really glob up much.

I love the curvature and the sharp contrast of the white deer and the blackness of the trees.
How do you do it? Are the deer and the speckles painted in a solid white? Or do you leave sections blank?
If the latter, how do you manage to keep it from bleeding, I often have that happen...

I tried to keep the deer as white as possible but went back with white inks to clean up edges. I know they have masking paints for that kind of stuff, but I don't own any. The white speckles are splattered paints.

I actually tried to keep most of it white, but then went back in with white ink to clean up the small lines and such. So much easier than trying to keep it white!
