Description *edit* Added really quick color. He/She looks much better even though it is a sloppy coloring job.

Don't ask me, I don't know where IT came from, lol. I just started drawing.

A hermaphrodite snake, goat, human, antelope God of... whatever you want it to be.

An okapi god! The musculature is amazingly well done. He must do some serious sit-ups.

I really like your coloration ideas for him however there is so much going on in this image that my eye wants to jump around. The design in the back ground is nice, but with the coloration, I'd personally almost rather take it out. Again. Just my personal opinion.

Freha In reply to SpottedPegasus [2009-12-09 20:57:02 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it needs the background work either, but since this is being submitted to a campus art and literature book, they don't like "background-less" images, there has to be something back there. Coloring the lines allowed them to fade more than when they were black. At least he/she now stands out from the image, before with just the lines it was even more confusing for the eye. I think there is an appropriate level of busyness, so that people flipping through the book will have to stop and look for a while, lol.

I love the colour choice, Okapi-like. One thing I saw when looking at it, was the bg 'fronds' coloured blue, to match hir eyes

A flat colour so as not to detract from the details in the character.

I love hir!

Freha In reply to moonfeather [2009-12-16 01:22:04 +0000 UTC]

I chose the Okapi like coloration because I wanted something that immediately looked exotic. I thought of coloring hir blue skinned like some of the Hindu gods/goddesses, but I wanted something more natural.

I tried coloring the background design blue, but it clashed with the image even though it went with hir eyes.

Thank you! I can't take full credit for the double "boobs". When *Dragoness77 red-lined it for me she corrected the anatomy by adding the double pecs.

Wonderful creativity and attention to detail. The anatomy is fantastical, but it still works and flows.

I like how you varied the width in lines between the background design and the figure, but the sheer amount of detail and the generally identical width of line in most of the figure's features make it hard for the eye to focus. I'm not sure where the focal point may be. Naturally, it would be the face, but the head is too close to the center and its many lines make it recede in darkness with the hair. The broad planes of the chest draw my eye more effectively: they're a more graceful shape and they allow the eye to rest after all the background detail.

I'm hoping that the color fixed the issue with the line detail within the figure.

NyMosy In reply to Freha [2009-12-17 00:14:24 +0000 UTC]

Most definitely! Now the eye flows much more easily and takes in more of the figure. I love the hint of blue in the eyes.
