I haven't touched most sugar cereals in a long time either, but I like wolves too. I was at a super market in the cereal aisle one day, and I noticed Chip the Wolf on the front of the Cookie Crisp box. The mascot is no longer a dog, but it's a wolf now. And wolves are cool to say the least.

You can blame that on designer Ward Jenkins who was given the go-ahead to redesign Chip as he saw fit, basically taking off the close and the contour lines in favor of a more abstract, pointy look we see over here.

Oh yes, he really looks like a knock-off of Wile E. Coyote, I actually found on google a picture of him in a Cookie Crisp box where his fur is brown. I hope the clothed Chip back to your country.

It would've been cool to see them, at least once, get what they were after... but it just wasn't meant to be, I guess. -lol-

In Ireland, this wolf had an english accent. I saw one of his old adds on You Tube and he had an American.

I have seen a couple of his commercials on Youtube, and I thought it was strange how they each gave him a different voice. Personally, I prefer this one, which is the English accent I believe you were referring to (though I'm no good at identifying accents...)

Personally, if he had this voice, and they gave him his clothing back (they took them away for the American-released cereal boxes), he'd definitely be one of my favorite cereal mascots.

We'll show Chip the love and attention he... deserves, maybe? lol
(So long as it's the clothed Chip the Wolf, I'll show him attention... I still protest the nude Chip the Wolf though...)
To be honest, I'm quite surprised that the arms (and hands) came out as good as they did. I think my major problem is coming up with a position, but once I get past that, it's just a matter of making sure everything's proportioned right and all (which, I'm still not sure I pulled off right or not... I think the left hand needs to be slightly bigger, but I'm not sure).
And hey, I ain't forgettin' your advice. But, I will say that I'm surprised I was able to pull it off. Like I said in my reply on the journal, I usually have a lot of trouble with stuff like that... and even when using my own hand (or arm) as a model, converting what I see to 2D isn't so easy. I'm glad it worked out after all though.
And thanks for the compliment (and +Fav)! I suppose I'll drop the catchphrases for now.

Cookie Crisp has a odd list of moscots... first it was a wizard, then cookie-cop, then a thief and his dog, then just the dog, and now the wolf... now the wolf has become a Wile E Coyote stand in...

FreezingIceKirby In reply to SilverZeo [2012-07-27 02:40:10 +0000 UTC]
The wizard was way before my time (I was born in 1988), but I do remember the Cookie Cop, along with the thief and his dog. I remember always enjoying those commercials, back in my youth.
But, I do agree on the whole Wile E. Coyote stand-in thing. Why they decided to change his design like that, I honestly don't know... he was fine before, and the change was completely unnecessary... but, from what I've heard, he still has clothing in the UK commercials, so it's just an American thing? What the hell...

Hey, same year as me. ANd you manage to pull digital art more prossesional than me. Awesome.
Yeah, I think I also saw some of the commercials of Cinnamon Toast Crunch with those 2 other chefs before they were phased out for "Why do kids enjoy them" commercials...

(Sorry for the delayed reply. Was playing a game with my folks.)
When it comes to Photoshop/Digital Art, I've been practicing for about six years, give or take. While I've got the basic understanding of it, I can't really say that I'm a pro or anything. Considering how long it takes me to draw, as well as the fact that this basic toon style is really all I know how to do (with some exceptions)... I've still got a looong way to go, before I can call myself a good artist (or, so I feel anyway).
Strangely enough, I also recall that Chef, but just barely. I think we're both going on a nostalgia trip here. -lol-

Yeah, doesn't help when I grew up watching Star Trek: TNG, and it recently reached 25....
I just got into basic PhotoShop stuff, layers, inks, and ect, about 4 years when I was a freshman in college.... still need practice... as well as to focus... and break some bad habits...

Ahh, Star Trek: TNG... I remember staying up during the weekday to watch that with my dad... well, try to watch it, anyway. Being a little kid, I often fell asleep during the show.
As for Photoshop, just keep trying. Trust me, it took me a long time to figure out how to do things, how to do certain things/techniques, etc. One thing that helps is to follow the various tutorials you can find on DeviantART and Youtube. Even if you don't follow them exactly, it'll still give you a basic idea on how to use Photoshop.
(Just know that most Photoshop tutorials use the more expensive ones, like CS4 and whatnot. I like to use Elements 7, which is a watered down version of the expensive models, but still gets the job done.)

I remember breaking my bedtime on Wednesday when Voyager came on UPN...
Yeah, but I keep on finding trouble to get work on them, both pictures and videos, mostly of two reasons: Hardly anyone comments or faves on work that took hours of work and energies to make, that; and pressure on my parents to "Get my ***t together" cause I need a job/education and try to get some work down so I can actually provide for myself... and the unofficial 3rd is that standard issued video editing programs that come with the computer is a pain in the butt to work with...
I just have PhotoStudio program that with my scanner, pretty basic but decent software that helps me get the job done...

(Sorry for the late reply on this)
Sadly, I missed out on Voyager. Back in the day, my dad wasn't a fan of that particular series, so we never watched it together like we did TNG. For the past couple of years though, I've been checking out various episodes that spark my interest, like finding out how the whole thing got started, the ones with Q, the encounters with the Borg (always like Borg-related episodes), etc.. Doesn't seem like a bad show, which is a shame that I never checked it out from the beginning.
In regard to your first reason, I do know what you mean on that though. Besides people like you, as well as some other regulars, hardly anyone new ever looks at my stuff too. Very rarely do I ever see anyone that I don't recognize, with the exception of the various stamps that I've made (like the Mordecai one, which is ridiculously popular for some reason). I might see one or two per newly submitted pic, but that's only if I'm lucky.
It's a bit tough at times, knowing that rarely anyone ever looks at your stuff... but, my desire to draw keeps me going, as well as trying to reintroduce the various obscure characters that I've become a fan of over the years.
About your second reason, I'm sorry to hear about that. I don't want to say anything disrespectful about your parents, but it's a shame they don't support your desire to improve your drawing skills.
I've thought about making a video, in which I showcase off how I draw and do things. I wouldn't make it as a way to show people "How to do it", but perhaps to give others an idea as to how I do it, while perhaps others can give me some pointers as well. I haven't had much motivation to do it, but if you'd like to see me try it one day, I'll consider it.

A show is a show, you either watched when it was on the air or not. Luckly today, you can catch it online, either youtube, hulu, or Netflix Streaming...
I get that feeling too, some of the deviants that I made are those "motivation" parody pictures, the kind that just take a simple generator that you can make with ease at a website... hardly anyone comments or faves for the pictures I fully draw and color...
It's not that they're NOT encouraging me to draw, they just want me to get my head of of my @$$... which I tend to do. I've been planing to reply to your comment since I saw it about an hour after you posted it, but I lacked the focus to actually do it till now. I have WAY too much free time at home that I should spend doing something, but I end up NOT doing, to my parents need to kick me in the butt to at least TRY to do something that will help me in life...
Yeah... that does sound awesome. DA Muro's has that feature, while I encountered other users on DA that use streaming or record their drawing process on YouTube... I would like to see how you do your work.

FreezingIceKirby In reply to SilverZeo [2012-07-30 18:56:25 +0000 UTC]
Okay, I'll see what I can do. If I do make a "How I draw" video, it'll be a Youtube video, because I don't really have any experience with the DA Muro, and Livestream isn't really my thing. If I do compile the video and post it, I'll be sure to leave a journal with the video link.
(Now, I just have to think who I want to draw as my demonstration, and what I want to say during the video. It may be a couple of days, but we'll see.)

I usually don't take any sort of requests or jobs like that, because it takes me a long time to draw... in the sense that I'm hardly ever motivated, and that I'm just a slow drawer. Besides that, I don't really see myself as good enough to do something like that... but, perhaps one day, who knows?
