you need more of a shockwave- it seems quite flat on the surface- if a comet or meteor was that big then there would be a significant amount of dust kicked up- but apart from that its awesome!

Here's a tip: put it in 16:10 format!
Ok, so it's more of a request, but I'd love to have this as my desktop background. I don't want to stretch the pixels, though.

Is me doing a wicked guitar solo.
Lolno.
My only tip? Expand it to 768X1200.
... The size of my desktop ...
But once again, seriously. The trail looks a little too icy to me, but it's up to you.

I like looking at explosions.
I am sorry I cannot give you advanced critique. This sort of work is not my forte.
Please forgive me.

not as destructive as i thought "a thousand nuclear explosions in the same spot" would be...
aren't there mulitiple waves of shock that progress as the explosion grows? you could've added some...
and i bet there'd be just a LITTLE bit of red somewhere in all of this...

very nice!
you were looking for some critique? here's what i think would really bring out the emphasis on the strike, but also give it a calming experience to the eye...
notice that when a rock hits water (any size rock in a larger body of water), the sudden displacement of the water causes the water to "tidal wave" from a 360 perimeter of the point of impact. try to do this with the impact in your scene, such as making a small convex angle on the world where the impact is, and basically "tidal wave" a circle around it. this next link is not my own picture, but one i google searched to help you get an idea of what i mean.
[link]
hopefully thats helpful to you!
i'll add you to my watch list so i can see where this promising work of art decides to go!

Not another masterpiece... You're making me write too many little stories! Or short paragraphs... whatevuh.
The impact was very much like a couple hundred nuclear explosions at the same spot. Energy sweeped out from the top of the planet and basically evaporated everything in it's path. The bright blue light was blinding, and many people had it burned into their brain before it killed them. But others witnessing it would later call it beautiful, yet deadly.
...
This is getting to be a hobby.
