this is quite a remote area and so it was welcome it offered some structure, roads and "civilization" still (otherwise I would never have reached it- there are places in Caucasus that afford a 2 days hike, acommodation in a tent and so on...). and a surprising amount of people up there on a September morning to witness the Beauty (80% of them birdwatchers from western countries like me). so the combination of "being on top of the world" and Access for everyone was indeed stunning. plus the reddish (volcanic) rocks, widely snow free in late summer, and some clouds to keep away the cold but not hide mountain tops ^^
