Not to mention his overall tendency to screw up only job and life purpose he has! PER-FECT!

Knuckles may be an intense little bugger, but he still can't break free of the primary rule of being a Toon. Namely, that all Toons, even the smart ones, are dumb as hammers.

At least such peculiar fate gives him the reason to be involved within the storylines regardless of being "suitable". Same for rabid ultimate emos and mentally challenged time travellers!

I understand the rabid ultimate emo reference, but mentally challenged time travelers?

I mean this: [link] particular insane maniac. All three games he had an impact on the storyline in, portrayed him as a childish psychopath (and endlessly stupid one at that) that always picks the most inefficient method when dealing with....whatever adventure he was set in.

Ah. The only game I've ever played that featured him in any way was Super Smash Brothers Brawl with the little randomized cameos in the background of Sonic's world.

I wonder why the hell he was included there...Did the game designers/developers thought that he is important and popular enough to be thrown there? Although some claim that this was supposed to be some sort of 'raise' for Silver-involving 'Sonic Rivals' venue that by a couple of revievers was claimed to be one of the few contemporary installments that somehow give that more traditional sonic atmosphere... no matter how unlikely it sounds.

I assume Sonic Team likes Silver for reasons I don't understand. Perhaps he's more popular in Japan than in America. I wouldn't know. I have to admit that his cameo in the Green Hill Zone does seem weird, though, since the level is made to resemble the world of the games from the Sega Genesis and Silver didn't come to be until much, much later.

I also disliked the fact that Shadow was chosen to be Sonic's assist trophy. It should have been Tails, darn it! Oh well, that's just my own pet peeve.

Silver's contemporary existence got limited to cameos and unlockable multipayer mode characters, so I suppose that Sonic team by itself keeps Silver only because some people may buy a game just to see this guy for a moment, rather than him being useful to the storylines (especially after Sonic 2006 catastrophe that made it impossible to reintroduce Silver without heavy instant plotholes following his every step) and franchise.

Choice of Shadow as assistant trophy is based entirely on him being the second most popular Sonic character according to official polls, so there is little we can do about it. Basic economy, curse you!

I understand why Shadow was chosen. I just don't like him very much. He's Sonic's evil twin. Woohoo. Every superhero needs one. But he's not really that interesting and he's certainly not cooler than Sonic! When will people ever learn that evil twins, no matter how overpowered, are never cooler than the original superheroes they mimic?

Well, at the moment Shadow seems safe from such realisations, as nowadays regular Sonic fandom use to vent all the "lame character concept" anger by dumping fecal matter of critique on Silver's head (usually in the form of: "another hedgehog? Argh! and it is sure that he is the reason for all the lameness in contemporary Sonic gaming!").

'Evil twin' concept is overused. And being the Vegeta of the show doesn't help Shadow too much, hence the compensation by tragic and mysterious past that is revered by his fans to the point of making the claim that HE is the top performer.

I guess that such people should read closely whose name appears in the game titles for most of time in this franchise.

Indeed. Personally, I love superhero/evil twin conflicts. Always have. It's fun seeing both the good and bad sides of a character physically personified. But when you keep trying to make the negative doppelganger the star of the show, you have a problem.

Methinks it be a Silver and Blaze reference, m'man.

T'is. I like Blaze, though. She's cool. Plus, she's a kitty. So I'm kind of biased. I like kitties.

Same here. And honestly, I've got no beef with Silver, either--though he does seem to be a little bit thick.
