Description EDIT: Please note that this isn't remotely canon for the story "Transpecies," but rather it features two characters from that story as well as my fursona in a canon-crossing cameo appearance with the characters of others.  You can find my fursona, with Lauren to the left and Silvia to the right in their cameo appearance here.

About a week and a half ago, I was disappointed to realize that there were no plans for a second Thanksgiving War modeled after the cataclysmic online conflict of 2010.  This included spamming people's profile pages in a good natured way, changing to avatars based off common team icons, and Thanksgiving themed art.  This comic and poem by SkySilky summarize the event: pirategirl-tetra.deviantart.co…

Even if there couldn't be a major organized effort for a second Thanksgiving online battle this year, I thought I might come up with something interesting on my own.  I looked up who had belonged to which team (Indians, Pilgrims, and Turkeys) from the original conflict as I started to develop ideas.  I somehow had the audacity to plan a 24 page comic, which I reduced to 8 pages before realizing that was infeasible to make in such a short duration of time.  Ultimately, I decided to draw only the final page/panel as a stand-alone digital painting, but even this has proven late.  I have also written a short story based off the panels and pages which I had planned out for the comic.  I sourced the main plot events from my sketchbook captions for the panels of the planned comic.

Here is my short story sequel to the first Thanksgiving War: foxstory.deviantart.com/art/Th…

Also, don't forget to download for 2400x3000 full resolution!  This took an estimated 25+ hours over 11/24-11/30, after several hours spent on the plot and planned comic panels.  I've never spent so long on an art project that was not an animated composition.  I would appreciate comments and constructive criticism, since I've never depicted so many characters in one drawing before.  Be sure to check out the short story (1125 words) that accompanies this in the above link!  The link further above also provides background context if you were not around for the 2010 Thanksgiving War involving at least 500 people here on deviantART.  Chief Soaring Windaine (Verli) had the largest team, with some 300+ members.  That was a pretty fun holiday event, all things considered.  At the same time, it was rather intensive and has not recurred in the same way since.

In the picture above, all characters/items are (c) respective owners 2013.  Starting from the larger winged character on the left and going clockwise:

Your time and effort really shows in this piece.
All of the trees in the background and the stars in the night sky, to the wispy fire and the lighting from it.
Every little part of each character/person is there, and it all looks very well put together.
Kudos for finishing all of this. c:

Thank you for this detailed comment.  I used some simple tree brushes, and that was actually disproportionately quick to complete compared to how much area it took up.  I'm not pleased with how the stars have this little trails of color from my brushstroke, but I guess it's nice enough when zoomed out.

Thanks for looking at my art with such an eye for detail.  I hope you got to read the short story, too.
