Books take you on adventures that games and tv just can't seem to match.

Yeah, because with television and movies the "world" is only as certain as it appears. With literature, the story is as different, unique and profound as the reader can imagine.
Conversely; a lot of movies these days are/were books, and again only attest to how great they are/were, however fumbled their (movie's) attempts are to emulate their paperback/hardcover counterparts.
