I always wondered what was really happened on this scene. It seems Loki was just being manipulated at some degree by the Chitauri and Thanos. Don't you think?

Indeed. On "Thor" movie, his eyes were always green in some degree, but here, their color is change just like you pointed out. That and other several scenes, like the one of this gif, makes me thing he was under Thanos' control somehow...

Exactly what I thought of. I know that many talked about it in past, but only because it's true. His mind was changed in one way or another. I wouldn't exactly skip to Thanos already, but at the spear's magic surely had some effect on his mind.

In fact, Loki himself says he knows how the spear affects every individual in a different way... and how it "open a mind". It sounds he has first hand experience with the spear.
On the movie, the facts about Loki's change in his mind isn't totally clear, but certainly he was on Miggard because Thanos ordered him so... otherwise he would regret it a lot. As "Son of Coul" said, "you lack of conviction!".

And what is worst, Loki is so proud that he might not tell Odin about it. He might accept the punishment, just to ensure that he is not loved anymore, even though it was not his mistake. It's the broken kind of logic in the mind of those who were hurt. He will not alow himself to think that he is loved. Maybe that Odin does not know about Thanos' control, he will just leave it out and bear the punishmen with his head rised.
I don't think that I can express it right. This is the best way I can describe my feelings about the Avengers movie.
