-sweats- I've been working on this all morning hhH I got up at 6am??
I really need to practice backgrounds more...really happy with how this turned out though <33.

Whiskey had never really been one to go exploring but the day had just struck him. It was the two year anniversary since his owner's passing, and without many friends or family to be with he felt the need to get out of the house, and have some peaceful time outside. The outdoors had never really called to him like it called to others. He wasn't much into exercise, eating healthy, etc. but for some reason he just needed to get out. It was midday when he left and he was foolish enough not to pack a snack so he ended up getting fast food on his way to the forest that was a couple miles outside of the city he resided in. Because he didn't own a car, Whiskey walked out to the forest. The fresh air was nice, and ran through his fur. 'I should get out more' he thought, knowing well that he wouldn't. Any time he told himself that he would get out more, he knew he was just lying to himself. The heart of the forest was down the highway a couple of miles and he walked on the side of the road as the sun began to fall. Cars drove past him, one stopping to offer him a ride but he declined. Eventually he found a small dirt path that had possibly lead a few hikers down the trail but certainly not many, and he followed it into the forest.
A pond was surrounded by many deciduous trees, their leaves not yet sprouting back from the long winter that had just passed. It was almost eerie to be surrounded by that many empty branches, like fingers and arms all reaching outwards, grasping desperately for the fading sunlight. One dead tree trunk was hanging precariously over the pond, appearing to have been broken by natural causes. Whiskey climbed up on the tree and it creaked under his weight as he cautiously crawled outwards, over top of the pond where the trunk was extended. It wobbled unstably as he sat down, and the now setting sun being the only light through the a clearing in the trees where the lake vanished on the horizon line. He sat for a few minutes in peace, as some sort of tribute to the man who had raised him and cared for him, and as the moon began to rise and darkness shrouded the area, he climbed off the tree to make his way home through the dark forest.
