It's a pity to know that it's no use to wait for a new chapter of FMA in the coming weeks...
That was my favourite series, so far away from Bleach, Naruto or any other endless series. Like what: all great things must come to an end (not saying Bleach or else isn't cool, it is.)...

That is a nice metaphor; Edward giving up childhood things. Freely giving up his ability to perform alchemy without hesitation or regret was another. In that sense, "journey's end" could mean the culmination of Edward's personal journey towards emotional maturity. Alchemy defined who Edward was, but he put Alphonse's happiness above even that.
