Description The music that lives in my soul...  The key is changing...

Vibrations quavered through Den's body as the thunder cracked.  His heart's steady beat increased.  Sorrow slurred through his stomach.

"Is this true?" Den Whispered.

"We have confirmation," Razul replied sturnly.  "But as terrible as it is, we have no time to waste.  We cannot let the murderer of the Royal Family get away!"

"Y-Yes...  Of course..."

"Den."  Razul took a step forwards.  The rain fell around them, tiny staccatto droplets.  "You're my best friend.  I'm not supposed to disclose more details on the matter, but I feel you must know."

Den felt dread creep into his system.  His spikey blond hair lay flat, dripping.  He could hear the harmonic cries of witches and wizards around him, mourning the incredulous news.  Other members of the Royal Guard slivered through the chaos, their golden-plated armour gleaming with each flash of lightning.

"What is it?" Den whimpered.

"The culprit... the one who killed them all... is your master."

The key is changing!!

Chords of anger struck Den's body.  Fury seethed from his very essence like tails of differing lengths, reaching coiling, threatening to self-destruct.

"That traitorous bastard!" Den roared, his fortissimo voice daring to rival the thunder.  Many of those around stopped to stare at the young adult.  But it was all inconsequential!

"Your dragon is ready-" Razul stated with amusement, but Den was already storming away.

Den leapt onto the back of his large Gold Dragon without a note of hesitation.  He snatched up the reigns on the exact beat that sheet lightning lit up the black sky.

"This formidable storm," Den hissed, his chin lifting to the clouds, "is nothing compared to the melody raging inside of me!"

"I'll see you in the sky!" Razul called.

Den took flight!  The golden-winged beast upon which he was mounted powered him through the swirling winds high up in the air, its sleek wings increasing in tempo.

"Aaaahhhrrrgghhh!"  Den's voice was a distorted roar of indignation, striking in unison with the thunder.

"Den!" a far-away voice cried.  Den ignored it, his eyes glaring ahead into the darkness in the direction of his destination.  "Den!" the voice repeated.

"Razul!" Den yelled gruffly.  "Help me destroy Master!  He murdered your lover, didn't he?  You were going to marry Princess Narlia, weren't you?!"

Razul flinched, conducting his own dragon beside his friend's.  "Den, your master was last seen going east.  You're going the wrong way.  He was heading for the marshes."

The key is changing...

The storm rattled Den's mind, threatening to dismount him.  He changed his flight path with allegro pace, though his head was bowed in defeat.  The melody his soul sang drooped in pitch.

"Den, I'm sorry..."

"No way," Den gasped.  "He's going to kill Mum too..."
