you'll die sooner, but have a better quality of life, and better career prospects.

Imperial Guards; these are the true heroes of the Imperium. For all the weapons and vehicles at their disposal, at the end of the day they're just ordinary humans facing impossible odds. They die by the millions every day fighting against unspeakable enemies, but their sacrifice gives the rest of humanity a fighting chance to live in the grim darkness of the far future.
If that isn't heroism, I don't know what is.

you seen heard and read how easily space marines die in combat... you read about all the effort that goes into making them, and the result is quite underwhelming. I do however agree, because whilst the space marines is underwhelming physically, they have probably been heavily mentally conditioned, and their armour and weapons are extremely impressive, whilst the guard still have their simple little frame of mind and the simplest/weakest equipment the imperium has to offer, so the space marines are just as fragile, but the guard are indeed greater heroes, (cough, cough Yarrick).

Fantastic image. He looks a little scared, and who can blame him when the galaxy has so much nasty to throw at him. But despite that, he looks ready to go back out on the front line and do his duty anyway.
Now that's courage.
Great work.

Ready to serve the Emperor of Mankind as a cannonfodder, so the actually useful units like Astartes etc. can win the battle.

I actually would join the Guard, even if I knew I was going to die because of it.

It is better to die standing for the emperor than to live for yourself.

They have less chances of dying if deployed correctly.

Dying on the battlefield by Eldar fire> Dying in a hive city, in your sleep, by daemons.
Just a thought! ^^

Great work on this. He looks pretty weathered. I'd say he's been in the guard for about a week.
