Description The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,
not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when
you discover that someone else believes in you
and is willing to trust you with a friendship.

       – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I found this tiny little snake in the grass when walking along a river path.
I was looking for a place to setup a family picture with four origami foxes but, this was a fun opportunity to do something different.

The snake was only about 7 inches long and it was relatively easy to work with, although I suspect it probably would have rather stay in the grass.
I didn't bother it too long and let it go back home quickly.

The origami fox is a variant from the model designed by Komatsu Hideo. It is made from a single uncut piece of mulberry paper, painted red with acrylics on one side.

Thank you very much to Mouselemur for sugesting this image for a Daily Deviation, to Brookette for accepting to feature it and to all who stopped by.

The snake for being feral seemed like a natural model in the end.
This came out really cute. Like an Aesop fable with a happy ending.

This is really cute! This probably doesn't actually represent anything to you or anyone else, but to me I think it represents how something that has tampered with life and technology and become something different altogether (humans) have the opportunity to live in peace with nature.

that sounds kind of hippy-ish but that's what i think XD

Almost surely a garter snake. They range pretty far up into Canada year-round, and their coloration varies greatly. It would be docile enough to stand a picture and maybe a little posing, too.

OoZepheroO In reply to moucoy [2014-08-27 03:43:00 +0000 UTC]

It looks like a garter to me too, though it's hard to tell if the scales are keeled in this picture. If they are, then definitely a garter, otherwise I'm not totally sure. It's so cute though! xD

It looks to me to be some sort of common garter snake or a rat snake. Then again, I don't know the location of the photographer (other than they live in Canada, which could be any one of the many provinces there), so there's no way for me to narrow down the kind of snake to the exact species.

I admire anyone who can do origami, because that was one craft I could never accomplish. The fox is wonderfully crafted and the snake is a beautiful addition.
