Description After watching the first couple of episodes of the new series of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, my love for the FMA series had regained its spark! To tell the truth, my favorite anime character of all time is Edward Elric. And my favorite anime/ manga series is, you guessed it! Full Metal Alchemist.

I haven't been showing as much love to the series as I should recently, BUT! My love has rekindled! Ed! I love you FOREVUR!!!!!!!!!

and hurray for uneven proportions!

Just finished Episode 25 of Gundam 00 last night (Actually, this morning at about 2am...). I have to say, I was very impressed.

Can't wait for a second season!

My friend told me she was on the second season. She thinks the whole series is rather strange but she really likes it, and I think she told me that she like the second season a lot too XD

Ie is a departure from the older Gundam series I have seen. They wrote it to reflect more of what is happening now, and almost alluding to current events causing the crisis in the future. Sort of a " No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" view... which is oddly plausible.

00 has the feel that Gundam Wing had when it started. A nice bit of mystery as to who is what and why. And as I said before... Oddly plausible.

Yeah, that one was kind of... disturbing. He felt to be a little less real than the rest of the cast, at least to me. It was kind of annoying that his persona change was always marked by his hair flipping to the other side of his face.

Not the sort of person you want to be around on a windy day...

I could see his darker side getting into someones face during a battle and doing the whole "Helter Skelter" bit.

I wonder if he is actually the son of that mercenary that keeps popping up. Just crazy enough to be related...

... Whoa. Almost like Jango Fett and the cloners!

There are novels?

I've been hooked on that Star Wars/ John Williams tribute on YouTube. Found it is the best music for playing Slay.

lol that's where Star Wars began, as Sci-Fi novels! Terra read them, and she used to be a big Star Wars fan. XD

HTYMSITI In reply to foighne [2009-06-06 18:50:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'll be.

I had to go and Wiki that. Turns out Alan Dean Foster (ghost writing for Lucas) wrote the original Star Wars novel to be published a year before the film was released.

Huh. I thought it was the film, then the books... That's what I get for thinking.

Fanboy-wanna-be-Jedi.

Though, I do have to commend some of the cosplayers out there. There is one Squadron (Yes, Squadron) of Imperial Cosplayers in Orlando. Disney even consulted with them when making the Star Tours ride years back. They had to submit all the prototypes to Lucas for the okay before Disney could use them. The main feedback they got? "This is WAY more detailed than anything we used in the movies!" lol

Most shocking of all was the female Stormtrooper I spotted at Megacon years back. Serious double take on that one!

foighne In reply to HTYMSITI [2009-06-13 04:18:00 +0000 UTC]

lol the cosplayers have that much authority? XDDD

well, y'know what they say! Don't judge a book by its cover...(?) XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HTYMSITI In reply to foighne [2009-06-13 05:11:34 +0000 UTC]

When they are that good at making the costume, Oh Yeah, they have that much authority!

We had been joking earlier in the day that you never see a female storm trooper. As we were about to leave, a group of about 20 storm troopers were marching through the hall, and in the lead was one female trooper. Modified chest plate with no stomach cover, like a halter top.

Those were some nice abs...

So the quality of cosplay DOES matter!!! *is enlightened*

XDDDD somehow, that's cute! <3

and on a random note....I could really go for a burger right now...o 3 o

HTYMSITI In reply to foighne [2009-06-13 05:58:12 +0000 UTC]

Midnight Burger Run! lol

There is simple cosplay, where someone just tosses on a sailor suit and cat ears, and then there is OMFG COSPLAY where some engineering student builds a walking battle suit and wears it to a convention... (One guy in did that a few years back. Only had enough power to move for about 30 seconds, but what a show!)

WOW! What an awesome cosplay!
I am now a firm believer that there is power in dressing up like some crazy lookin' anime character.

Have you ever cosplayed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HTYMSITI In reply to foighne [2009-06-13 17:18:02 +0000 UTC]

Not as such. I used to be in the SCA, which did medieval stuff, so I was dressed up in tunics every now and then. I was mainly in it to learn the crafting aspect- black smithing, making blades and armor, leatherwork,... a lot of skills that just are not around anymore.

There is one picture of me on here from way back when, in garb. I think it may be one of the only ones in existence.

If I ever did cosplay, it would have to be as Al Elric. (I already know how to make the armor... )

They have come in handy over the years. Yankee Ingenuity and such.

That, and learning to research objects helped a lot with making some of my instruments. Learning to look for what is "Period" and what is conjecture is a definite boon.

I chose Al since it would take me forever to actually make it, thus keeping me from have to be a public spectacle. lol Have you ever tried cosplaying?

foighne In reply to HTYMSITI [2009-06-16 05:36:47 +0000 UTC]

I see, I see.

y'know, when Terra and I went to the Renaissance Fair, this guy had a really cool instrument that worked kinda like a violin, but in was shaped like a triangle and didn't have a neck. It was really cool!

lol, I think you would make an awesome Al. ^_^
well, my first cosplay attempt was TERRIBLE. I tried to cosplay as Ritsuka from Loveless (back in my yaoi/shounen ai days). Total. Fail. At my first anime con I tried to cosplay Edward Elric but it backfired due to lack of decent material...so this year I'll be going to the Anime Expo again, and will hopefully be my first successful attempt at cosplay. I'm going as England!!!
