I know, I don't think I could do that.
Thank you! I think I finally understand shadows.

I suddenly realised that I'd be shading based on the 3d structure, not where the shadows were, if that makes sense.

Glad to hear that, it feels really good to have made some progress, now looking back I don't know why I didn't see it before, but that's how it goes.

Thank you! I spent ages looking at tutorials and then I suddenly worked it out XD I've never been able to before but it seems I've cracked it.
The shading on the head is my favourite part, it took the head from being something I was embarassed with to the best part of the drawing, it was very odd. Still, I think I know where I've been going wrong with shadows now, so that's good news.

whaaaaooooaaaaa fluffy! In all honesty I didn't recognise this as yours! The style is so different. It looks SERIOUSLY awesome though, that body and that pose and the way you coloured it is really really cool!

I know, the shading's new, the lineart's new, there's very little there that's not new.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it, I'l seriously pleased with shading now, it requires more thought but the difference is amazing. I don't know why I never thought about it like this before. I'm not sure where the pose came from but it sorted itself out in the end XD This went through so many stages of looking terrible, I'm really pleased I stuck with it.

Yes I can defenitely see the difference in the shading. What caused the breakthough?

There was a drawing in one of the groups I watch with a dragon and you could see all the dragon's spines on the shadow and I wondered why I'd never drawn a shadow like that, then I saw this random tutorial and suddenly realised that things in real life only have one layer of shadow, and it's where the light isn't. I'd never looked at it that way before, I'd always worked on what was sticking out and what was further in.

Haha weird how that all came together.
That is one interesting way of looking at shadows though. I can see how it would make a difference. I don't think that I ever really thought about them like that before.

I know, it was a genuine eureka moment. I don't get them often, which is why I mentioned it to start with. It was quite odd.
Really? I didn't either, but I don't know. I found it quite hard to start with, but it does kind of make sense after a while. I'm not sure what it'll mean for lineless work, but I'm sure it will help them just as much as it helped the more cartoony stuff.

I'm sure you will get one, everyone goes through periods where they don't get as many.

Thank you! The head is a mystery to me, I have no idea how it did such a U-turn on me. And the spine I think says that I have a fondness for exoskeletons, since my last two drawings have included external spines.
