whew, I finally finished these pictures, they took me a while. ^^

I drew two versions in pretty much the same concept as you can see – one for the younger Ed and one when he’s a little older.
The left one symbolizes Ed after the human transmutation he and his brother committed, where Ed looses his right arm and left leg what I tried to depict here. (I know Ed was a lot younger when this happened but it’s only meant to be “symbolic” and doesn’t show the actual scene) the black hands from the gate are taking his limbs as he walks forward to return and safe his brother after he paid his toll. The circle on his chest is the one he used to bind Al’s soul to the armor, but I believe he also drew it on himself with his own blood before he tried the transmutation.

The Ed on the right symbolizes him years later (and now with his automail), determined to get his brother’s real body back after he found a way. The black hands here try to hold him back as a last barrier standing in his way to reach his goal.
