EDIT: I didn't like how young and kinda anime-ish Hiccup looked in the original so I tweaked some more. Couldn't resist adding more reds, and his freckles, too.

I love this - I love the textures and the shadows and the way you painted his facial features (the details are lovely to look at). I also really really like his expression, and how it's mostly based on his eyes. The emotion is wonderful, and it goes with the quote perfectly.

Wow, the way you draw/painted this portrait of Hiccup is amazing! The detail to his lip, the fur coat, his freckles and shiny nose is so realistic and just...incredible! This is beautiful and you did such an amazing job!
What do you do...do you sketch it on paper, scan and then paint in photoshop or something? And also if you are painting with a coloring program/tablet, I was wondering how you were able to blend the colors so nicely...I still can't figure it out very well so it'd be great if you could possibly explain it

I rarely sketch on paper nowadays. I usually do everything straight on photoshop. I would create one layer and sketch a very rough and messy outline, then create a second layer below it with general colors, then I merge the two and start blending and refining colors using the inkdrop tool. When set to brush mode, I can switch to inkdrop easily by clicking alt and so I just pick up a shade, render, pick the color in between, render... and repeat that process until I get the colors and look I need. I plan to post a tutorial of that process sometime soon. c:

Oh hey, I rewatched this myself, just last night! SUCH A GOOD MOVIE. This is a really nice portrait and I don't remember what it looked like before but it doesn't seem overly anime-ish at all.
