Description The wonderful had the idea to draw a sandsurfer.
Yeah. Even with my injured finger I finished this one. Kinda proud how it looks. Tried to improve my cell shading techniques.
How do you like it?

I love it And I love how similar our ideas are I have finished the lineart, I should be able to put up the finished thing tomorrow, I struggled a bit with it and I am not 100% happy with the pose, but otherwise I think it's fine so I will let you know as soon as it's up! As usually, I love your colouring style!Β
So get and idea for the next challenge, because we can start it soon

What happen to your finger? :<

FlixArts In reply to Aakami [2015-07-11 07:42:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Thank you Β  My original idea was completely different to this one and definitely more original than just a dude riding a snowboard on sand But on the other hand I wanted to do a simple idea as good as I can. Tadaaaa
Looking forward to your sandsurfer <3 With the colouring style I was deeply influenced by the technique of Brother Baston. Not too much saturation, softer shadows but still visible shadow lines etc. I really like the result and can imagine to shade and colour C&M like this. But we'll see.

Yeah. "Funny" story about my finger. It was so damn hot in Germany (I guess in Greece too?). I went in the bathroom to undress my wet shirt. Wet shirts are harder to undress u know? Therefor I used to much "power" and I heavily hit the mirror in front of me. First I didn't noticed that I've injured myself but then it began to bleed heavily. Anyway. After I treated myself well and stopped the bleeding a big part of flesh (sorry for being so detailed) was missing on my right forefinger. Wasn't even able to move it. But my treatment was really well. My injury is just a little scar now and I can normally use my finger again :3

But enough from me. How was your vacation in Greece?

BLEAH, omg, that sound horrible about your finger!! :< Did you have to get it to the hospital or something? Did you have stitches? Or did it need only the bandate and cold water? That sound REALLY horrible ;( Was it at least left hand? >_< Poor you

I am being lazy after the Greece, it was definitely too hot and too busy so I needed these few days laying down and not doing anything! Well, drawing, but as I wrote in one of the other posts, I can't seem to finish anything... And I am meeting my tutor tomorrow about the dissertation so I will have to work all night and day to have enough material to show her, which is stressing me a bit! So the trip was fun, I read 6 books, swam a bit, ate seafood so it was rather peaceful

I have a strong body and know much about wounds, healing and appropriate treatments when somebody gets injured. I'm not afraid of blood, bones, flesh and all that stuff.
6 years ago I did my civil service in a surgery station in a hospital. Many insights and additionally I had a really good relation with all the surgeons there. They took some time to explain me the hell out of the bodies and what they do at the moment.
So interesting. If I wouldn't be too lazy I would have studied medicine ^^ My finger is alrighty. Just a big but clean scar is left on above the knuckle of my right hands forefinger (the most important finger for me to be creative)

Serious business with Greece actually. It's gonna be interesting what will happen to that country. But that's another story.
I can imagine that Greece was hot as hell. Would have died several times there... like a pheonix maybe? haha
Glad you are back healthy and hopefully relaxed

I know a thing or two about scars too and as I have quite a few of them but it stipl doesn't stop me from being grossed out about chunks of flesh being missing from one's body I used to be veeeery sensitive to blood and all kinds of wounds, I couldn't stomach any scratches on the body in movies and it took me some time to get better at it. I still can't watch the torture scenes for example. But I got better with watching needles being stuck intosomeone in movies after my surgery and recently was the first time I actually looked at the needle in my arm when they were drawing blood out of me. One day I might look when they insert it even, small steps xD so I am better than I was but I guess I am still in the sensitivr group I am glad that your finger is okay!
Wow for working in the hospital I definitely wouldn't handle the pressure though i wish I was tough like that

Yeah, I melted many times too. It WAS too hot for me, and I actually came back tired of the sun so it is good that in Poland it is rather cloudy lately. I prefer it like that. Even though it is still warm and I am sweating as soon as i go outside. I wish i were autumn already...
But yeah, I needed a break from the holidays so the first few days i spent doing nothing (I call it "a burrito state" because when you wrap yourself in he blankets and lie on bed all day you resemble burrito xD) and only yesterday I put myself back up on my feet and started being productive

Yay. The doctors told me that most of the civilian service dudes/dudettes weren't capable of watching a surgery and lost their conciousness. My interest was bigger than any disgust. The worst thing for me was the smell of burnt flesh and blood. But all the other things are really really interesting. Brains, guts, the heart, lungs, muscles and all the bones.... woah. If I wouldn't be such a lazy dude I would have studied medicin for sure haha. Anyway. Hope you are getting better with your seeing-blood condition

Burrito state. <--- That's the best word I've heard for years to describe that state. Really. Haha. I laughed out loud so my girlfriend was curious what I'm laughing about (she was in another room than me).
Glad to see that you were able to wrap yourself out of the burrito. Your latest submissions are beautiful <3

Well I thini I got to the point of average with how I react to blood, maybe i am even in thr bottom "brave" spectrum now but what really creeps me out is breaking bones. You know the sound they always have on screen for breaking necks and arms and legs? I always shudder, that is so creepy! I wouod be scared to be in a situation where Iwould have to fight because I have a problem with the idea of hitting someone to break their nose. If I could, I would totally be practicing some martial arts. Though I am afraid that i would prove to be too lazy too! Like, I struggle with going to the gym even though I feel great after it too!

I need to find you a drawings illustrating being a burrito xD I feel like I spent another weekend burrito-ish but at least I caught up with some tv series, and today I started strong with a gym so that's something!

And you keep saying how lazy you are, but seeing how you can devote yourself to drawing, I am rather impressed and jelaous of your discipline!

Crepitation of bones is ugly yes. But that's not something I would say that creeps me.
Personally I practised two kinda martial arts (Thaiboxing and Shaolin Kung Fu).
Both were really cool because you can release all the bottled-up power inside you. It feels good.
Additionally you feel a lot safer when being out late.Β

Despite Germany is quite a safe place to live my hometown is not.
Back in my youth days (do I sound old? xD) I often needed to defend myself or friends against
neo-nazis or violent polish thugs who thought to punish all germans for what our grandgrandfathers have done in WW2.
I'm not proud of this but I'm happy to be able to defend myself even with some rough measures.

Drawing myself in a burrito state haha. Could be a challenge

Luckily my lazy state is not too unproductive. Drawing is the most lazy activity I can do without getting bored quickly.

I practiced aikido when I was a kid but I dropped out of it pretty quickly and I am still angry with myself about that. Post-surgeries I practiced a bit of thai chi and I actually really liked that but had to stop when I started to feel bad. But I might actually go back again, I need to find some tutorials on youtube because I don't remember the moves, but it's something that you can easily do by yourself to strenghten your body in general, so I might do that
The thing I got quite interested in at some point was the kind of boxing practice with the training bag. You know what I am talking about? I didn't want to hit people, just hit the bag, especially that my friend has one. But I didn't, it wouldn't be good to my back, I think.

Yeah, I know what you mean. As a person who can't defend herself at all, I get really stressed around strangers on the street and I try to avoid all contact with people I don't know not to be in a situation which might be dangerous. And sorry for polish thugs ><

I think this is the most popular burrito thing on the internetΒ Β i.imgur.com/cjvUFzh.jpg

Β (the only more famous is the video of the hamster eating a tiny burrito, HAVE YOU SEEN IT, IT'S TOO CUTE)Β

I think that I finally beat my burrito state, and I got some things done. Not enough of course and I know that I won't be able to do everything that I wanted to tomorrow, but at least I've done some things that I am happy with.Β
And tomorrow, my dear friend, I am purchasing Mass Effect 1. Because I gave up on waiting for the hard copy to appear and I tracked it down on the Playstation Store. Which will be my first purchase there. Yesss.

FlixArts In reply to Aakami [2015-07-24 08:34:21 +0000 UTC]

Mass Effect 1 is quite cool but definitely not the best of 3 but is totally worth it to play through imo.

Dat burrito xD Ok. I can say so far that I avoided this kinda state most of my life. Can't remember being that lazy
during the last years. But it's ok as long as you can beat that state and get some works done.

Actually I'm working on a commission for a WoW player. Have to draw his Tauren character. Gosh.... huge battle cows aren't that easy to draw xD

No need to feel sorry for dickheads. Crime isn't a national thing. People do crime or do good. It's there decision so I only blame them.
I met a lot of awesome polish people so these thugs are just idiots. I don't even remember their faces haha.

Oh, I thought that the first one is the best one? So which one is your favourite if it is not the first part?
Unfortunately, I had to postpone playing ME because apparently it's incredibly huge and I don't have enough space on my Playstation (and I Have only two games installed) so I needed to fnish one of them first. Since in Uncharted 1 there are zombies which are killing my butt, I don't see myself succeeding with it any time soon. Β xD ZOMBIES, WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ZOMBIES.
But you know what I just did? I finished "Remember Me" and HOLY SHIT I loved that game. Especially once I figured out the way to play the damn thing xD I never really used the whole combos, but I was more than okay just with using the first three hits in every combination max, just to heal myself and to make the regeneration faster. And actually what surprised me was how easy and enjoyable the final boss fight was! I thought it would be as big pain in the ass as the robot fight or the Madame fight (which wasn't that bad, but this one was soooo long!), and I liked that and it was so fast. I love when games to that and they make the final boss easier than you'd think! And I wonder if that was a deliberate choice because he did want us to kill him, so the boss actually made the fight easier for Nillin, to make sure that she would win? I feel like that somehow
But yes, that one one of the most beautiful games, with wonderful music and I love the main heroine and her voice actress.Β
Though Nillin's mum had the craziest hair I've ever seen outside of japanese productions XD

Haha, I need to draw something and I actually don't know what I want to draw now... But I am feeling like doing few fanart, I have one portrait to finish and then I will shamelessly draw some Doctor Who and Harry Potter artwork to get some attention from people xD Nothing works as good as drawing fanart XD

Nice for the Wow comission! And wait, battle COWS? XD

I'd say that the 2nd and 3rd are much better. But the first one is still rocking having in mind when the game was developed and released. Big achievement for gaming in general imo.
ME2 and ME3 have their highs and lows but in general I don't devide the games because I see the ME trilogy as one big story. You can import your decisions to the next game and your Commander Shepard stays the same.
So decisions from the first game have a huge impact on the story in the 2nd and 3rd episode.

The best thing about Mass Effect is not the combat system or this brilliant story writing. What I really like is the social interaction you can have. You are free to do what you want and this amazes me.
I think you'll have a lot of fun with all 3. Keep me updated commander

Congrats for playing through RM. I'm glad you like it. Really. Don't know much people who'd give it a chance.
Most people I know bought the game, played until the first more difficult boss and never touched it again. Didn't understand why but yeah.
I have to admit that the most difficult boss in the game was the end boss to me. I struggled so hard xD
Yeah. I can't really say much about that hair because I'm still irresolute what to think about her hair.

Fan art is a cool thing to get some attention. Good luck with it.

Yeah. Battle cows or better said Tauren.
This is my line art:

Yeah, I need to wait with the ME a little bit, but I am totally gonna play it. For now I've just got Tomb Rider trilogy, I've played less than 20 minutes because I didn't have time but HOLY SHIT I love this game as much as my friends told me I would and much more than I expected. And it looks great too, I believe it was retouched for PS3, but I love it so much. It's like made for me, with all that amazing climbing and funny witty dialogue.

Haha, really? The last boss in RM was a piece of cake for me. Seriously, I've struggled so much with every single bigger fight, I had to do most of them at least twice or more like three times and the final boss was the ONLY big fight which I pulled off in one try XD Maybe Edge took pity on me and he made it easier for me XD

WOW, this drawing is bloody amazing! Your detailed lines are perfect, I love them sooooo much. It's gonna be a bitch to colour though, isn't it?

And I am not sayin that it never occured to me that a "battle cow" might be an antropomorphic one, but I might've thought about just a big normal cow with some armour on, like a medieval horse

I actually struggle a little with the first Tomb Rider, but I like the puzzles and the tough parts - they sometimes make me do it two-three times, but I always feel that I am FIGURING it out, not just frustrating over it. I mean, they are fair, you know? I guess they have the feel of slightly older games, where the puzzles/fighting scenes weren't impossible, they just need you to focus a little bit!

Instead though, today I've went through whole Journey again and obtained the White Cloak (which you get when you collect all parts of the scarf), because I've met a wonderful companion and we've went through the whole story together. It was an awesome companion and the experience of walking through this game with someone is absolutely outstanding. Especially that this guy was a sweetheart, showed me some collectibles and helped me out a lot and drew me a heart in the sand and then messaged me with an "arigatou" (they are japanese) and I am totally moved by it I love this game so much, also because you can give you this kind of experience that you never get in anything else, I think!

I am gonna comment on the drawing itself, but it looks soo darn awesome already

In the meantime I am struggling with my huge comission (have I told you about it? The card game?) and it's going to kill me, but oh well. I just hope I will be able to make it on time. For now I probably would be better off going to sleep soon and getting up in the early morning to finish the second picture - you know this moment when you get so frustrated that the only thing you can do is to go to bed, because it's more likely that you will finish it (and be able to be happy with it) in the morning?

FlixArts In reply to Aakami [2015-08-13 07:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Totally understand why because I feel the same. It so great to have a good mixture of fighting, exploring and puzzling.
Always amazed me and now while we are talking about TR I want to play it again so badly! Warrgh

Everytime you talk about Journey I imagine vast landscapes, beautiful but extremely stylised sceneries and epic music.
Another must play title for me ^^

I'm really sure you'll make some wonderful commission pieces for this card game. Actually I'm working on my 10th commission and feel a little bit exhausted though the commissions where great to draw or to design.
Anyway. Some motivation? Saw this a few days ago. Hilarious and motivative! xDΒ www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuHfVn…

Aakami In reply to FlixArts [2015-08-14 08:18:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'd rather have 70-30 climbing/solving-fighting ratio like in TR than 20-80 like in Remember Me But darn, even thinking about RM makes me smile. Such a beautiful and lovely game <3

That's pretty much how Journey is! And I actually know the soundrack by heart, it's my go-to soundrack when I need to concentrate and don't want any lyrics, or I am stressed and just need to chill

Β Omg, I love it. I mean, I am not LaBeouf's fan, but this one is just perfect. And motivational! And actually a very good advice - "Tired of starting over? Stop giving up!"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FlixArts In reply to Aakami [2015-08-14 14:29:55 +0000 UTC]

TR is indeed a great game <3 I don't know exactly anymore but I think that beside Samus Aran and the Giana Sisters, Lara Croft was one of the first real popular protagonists in video game history right?
So cool she still matters and still kicks asses! And of course.. Boobies! xD

Then journey is pretty much what I like to play. I think Dani would like to play this game too. Now I need a evil masterplan how to play Journey.Β

LaBeouf is a weird person yes. But I do love his acting. Saw "Fury" lately. It's a war movie about a tank crew fighting in Germany (WW2). This movie is really great but authentically violant.
Every role in this movies was so well acted. Really. But who really amazed me (again) was Shia LaBeouf. Genuis.
Additionally. Everytime I try to get myself into your burrito state phase I watch this video. Afterwards I finished a commission xD
So LaBeouf for president... in some case... no better not... but... DO IT!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aakami In reply to FlixArts [2015-08-18 08:45:27 +0000 UTC]

I think so, about Lara being first strong female lead, and probably the first one THIS famous. But she is an awesome character and I love how witty and funny she is, and her relationship with the guys who talk to her on the phone is precious. THough driving a motocycle is the worst damn thing since Uncharted introduced the damn water ski ARGH. (And yes, I know it's been the other way around. Speaking of which, loving Uncharted, I see that they relied so much on TR when designing their game and it's so fun to see where all the things I loved in Uncharted came from. Especially that sometimes they are even more pleasurable in the so much older tomb rider!).

Booobieeees.

Journey is enough of a reason to play Playstation. Especially that it came out for PS4 recently, and you've been saying that you want the 4 anyway....

Well, I never liked LeBeouf's performance that much, I just thought it was okay and not amazing in any way. But I think that I've seen him only in blockbusters, so maybe that's why.
And his speech is definitely the best thing to happen for me motivational-wise since "How I met your mother's" line:
"Let me save you a few years.Β Even if it sound completely crazy what is it you want to do with your life?"Β
"I want to end poverty."
"Great.Β Then every decision you make from here on out should be in service of that."

That's totally my life motto from now on.Β

But "Just do it" and "If you are tired of starting over, stop giving up" is actually a great one too - I've just used to it get back into dieting and healthy lifestyle and I feel so motivated by it It's such an obvious and easy truth, but I sooo needed to hear it!
