★ Kingdom Canidae [8/10]:

The personal project that I've been working on; it's a series of 10 images illustrating a fantasy world that showcase 10 different kinds of Canids (doggos!) with facts and story~
Its intent is to be printed as a book so the artwork is created in spread format.

☆ Arctic Wolf. (In Latin; Canis Lupus Arctos)

On the other side of the land, lies the Kingdom’s assassin sister. She leads her own pack of beautiful and deadly wolves.
Prowling between the tall timber trees and ploughing through the crystal white snow, the cold is nothing to the brutality and sharpness of this wolf pack.

☆ Story

The secret Queen of the Tundra and her pack of Arctic wolves are as fierce as their wildland counterparts.
Their unique coat colours allow them to blend into the snow storm, cloaking them like assassins in the night.
As they isolated from the rest of the Kingdom, she leads the covert operations from this harsh environment, with time to complete tasks with impressive finesse and refined power.

☆ Facts & Info

Arctic wolves inhabit the Canadian Arctic and northern parts of Greenland. Known as Polar wolves or White wolves, they are a subspecies of the Grey wolf.
Arctic wolves are smaller than the Grey wolves, however they are bulkier than them as they need thicker coats and mass to survive in their environment.
They are able to walk on frozen ground due to the way their feet have evolved, allowing them to shift their weight for better grip. They often eat in large amounts due to the scarce supply of food in their habitat.

Did you know? Due to the extreme cold, the Arctic wolf has two layers of fur. The outer coat actually gets thicker as the winter comes.
