I have all the Redwall books! They are a great fall back series to read! I REALLY miss watching it though. I used to tune in on Sunday mornings to PBS and watch it but they only got as far as Mattimeo and they pulled it off the air. I only have a couple of Red Wall DVDs and a few VHS tapes and some I taped off the tv. Its a great series to read and so easy to get lost in isn`t it?

Yush, it surely is =n.n=
They made a TV series of Martin The Warrior too :3
I just love the books Even though their world and moral code tends to be extremely black and white most of the times n.n;
Vermin creatures are ALWAYS evil and selfish with no chance of retribution (besides few exceptions) and Redwall animals are AWLAYS good and friendly. I read almost all the 10 first books in a row and that point did stand out quite a lot n.n; I still love the books as they have good overall story, but that little fact just bothers me every time <:3

I was reading Martin The Warrior but now I can't find my book! I remember the Animated Version of Martin The Warrior. That was what got me started on collecting the Red Wall books! I remember reading one book and doing a report on it for English Class, the teacher gave me the assignment of reading the longest book I could find by an author whose name started with B and ended with J thinking 'Oh she'll never find anyone whose name starts with B and ends with J! There ISN'T an author out there with those initials!' After spring break ended, I returned to ninth grade English Class,book and report in bag. Class started and my teacher says 'Alright Toby! Lets hear your excuse for not doing your assignment! Lets hear WHY you couldn't find an author starting with B and ending with J. We're waiting.' So I leaned down, reached into my bag,pulled out my Mariel of Red Wall book and my report and said 'Oh I don't have an excuse for not doing it or finding an author with B&J for initials.' and she says 'I KNEW it! I just KNEW you couldn't do it!' to which I said 'Don't be hasty! I have no excuse for NOT doing it because there IS an author with the initials B and J! An author in the form of Brian Jacques Author of the fantabulous Red Wall series. My report is on Mariel of Red Wall. Read it and weep!' She went to the local library,checked out the book, read it herself,then read my book report and had to force herself to give me a 98. Just like when she told me to do a report on an author whose name started with R and ended with B any idiot worth their weight in salt knows the best author starting with R and ending with B is Robert Ballard author of half a million books that are terrific readings.

Wow o.o Your teacher sounds like an asshole...
And to be honest...I didn't know Robert Ballard n.n;
I suppose I'm not worth my weight of salt X3

Robert Ballard discovered the Titanic,The Britannic,The Lusitania,The Bismarck, The Andrea Doria and quite a few other Liners and Battle Ships. Just type his name into a search engine or [link] and discover his books.

I will look into it, but his works seem more like sciense literature and I'm not too much into that <:3

More Marine Exploration. He's usually found in the History Section because of the years the liners sank. Your best bet for a good book to get your feet wet would be: Lost Liners

I remember when they did an animated version of the books on public broadcasting over here in the US of A. I'd never heard of the books before; I was fascinated enough to watch it, but I was never a big fan because it weirded me out a little bit. :/

You are so lucky to be able to understand what you read. I can't interpret what is happening in a Redwall book.

If a book told me that there was a black cloud of doom looming over a town (that signified evil), I would think of it as literally, a nasty black cloud.

I too have sometimes hard time to understand, what is described in the book ^^ And mostly this pictre is based upon the image of Matthias given in the Redwall cartoon

Well, they don't sell them in Book Shops anymore here in Finland. Only place to find them is from stores that sell old and pre-used books. Dunno how it is there, but in my opinion, they are worth the trouble And of course, libraries are always there XD

IIRC, wasn't that an anagram for "Matthias something?"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FireRai In reply to Sir-Zurr [2008-11-07 22:45:31 +0000 UTC]

Yup, it was "I - Matthias"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sir-Zurr In reply to FireRai [2008-11-07 22:52:14 +0000 UTC]

I remember being happy when I figured that out ahead of time. It was a good feeling, and I miss it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FireRai In reply to Sir-Zurr [2008-11-07 22:57:16 +0000 UTC]

Aww ^^ In Finnish, the riddle was formed a little differently. Instead of anagram, it was made so that when you read it quickly, you get "I Matthias".

I've just finished Redwall in the last week and now I'm reading Mattimeo. It just sucks that they don't translate them in Finnish anymore >_< I have to find the english versions from 11th book and there on.

I'm reading Mattimeo as well, but not very fast.

FireRai In reply to Sir-Zurr [2008-11-08 10:02:36 +0000 UTC]

My school trip takes nearly an hour so I read then. That has a big part in the fact that I read fast XD
