She used PVC flag holders in a special harness that slid down into a corset.

This is amazing! I love reading what armor is made of because I always find myself so surprised (and impressed!)- hot glue and craft foam? That's so creative. You girls look fierce!

I'm a full believer in the wonders of craft foam, but D**N. This is above and beyond.
Those shoulders! T___T

SLICK. Makes sense why it's seamless. I love that!
I used magnets with my Lina cape, but it wasn't the load bearing parts. I hope you don't mind me asking if those magnets carry the weight of the armor at all? I'm making some armor for Max, and I think I'm gonna try that out. I'm using foam, lionboard, and sintra and want to make it easy for him to put on, and I want to avoid velcro from now on... bad results LOL

I have curved pieces of foam on the underside of the pauldrons so they actually sit on my shoulders, but the magnets hold them onto the breastplate and it acts like a hinge. I can move my shoulders everywhere without the pauldrons falling off.
But the breastplate, skirt armor, and greaves are fastened by magnets, and they stayed in place just fine (even though they didn't really need any support because they are form fitting). The magnets, however, are really, REALLY strong. I wouldn't be surprised if they could hold all the weight of the armor you're looking into. Just make sure to use plenty of them in case ^.^

I think I'm going to buy a pack of those magnets and just load the thing up with them, then! Thanks for the advice <3

Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw that it was hot glue! And over craft foam, no less.
How'd you surface the craft foam before paint, if you don't mind me asking? I've used Mod Podge, but was never quite satisfied with the texture or how the paint went on over it.

I was in a huge hurry for this costume (I made in in just over 2 weeks), so I ended up using 2 bottles of Mod Podge for the whole thing to cover the armor prior to painting.
The first 2 armor projects I made using a glue/water mixture, which I think worked a lot better, but it took forever to dry and I didn't have that luxury this time around. I also couldn't do the 5-7 layers I'm used to and I had to get by with only 2-3. But I think it still came out well despite being rushed ^.^

Ah, thanks.
Sounds like maybe I just wasn't using enough on the stuff I'd been working on, maybe the layers were a little too thin.
