could you direct my to a pattern or something that would help me begin plush making? I'm not asking for yours, just asking something to head me in the right direction

The tail looks gorgeously 3D but I can't help but to frown at the (forelock?) mane, which is all flat. This is the case with most of the mlp plushies out there... The tails are done nicely but the mane is almost always just flat. I don't understand why people can't try to make a 3D'ish mane fully if they do the tail too.
Before you say "it looks flat in the show", I know. I know it does... But I still like to imagine that they are all 3D and not flat. Unless if a mane clearly is flat or more hair-like. I guess this is more of a general complaint... It just happened to be your plushie that I post this comment on.
Then again I'm not a plush maker so I shouldn't be in position to critisize about this. I'm sure it must be very hard to design a mane pattern that will look good when stuffed in a 3D manner, even more so if the pony is a unicorn/alicorn with the horn going through the mane.
This plush is still very veeery neat and show accurate, despite the little minus side. It's just my personal preference. I mean no harm with this comment. I just felt like sharing my thought on the matter >_>

Most people start out making flat manes because the prospect of doing 3D ones and actually having them turn out well is a very challenging one. I definitely started out making very flat manes, and have since moved into more 3D interpretations (check my recent work in my gallery if you're interested in some examples). Generally, I just try to do what I think will look right for the character.
Although you headed off the "it's pretty flat in the show" route, it's still something I can address. My answer to that is that (as I said above) I try to do what will look best for the character, and thought the flat forelock would work best for her here. However, I do consult extensively with people before I start their commissions - if someone asked me to do it more 3D, I would!
3D manes are quite difficult, yes...but I do think it's one of the most important things for a character to try and get the mane right, which is one of the reasons I never keep my mane patterns. Even if I make the same character many times, I make a new pattern for the mane each time so that I'm driven to keep improving and not settling for what kinda worked last time.
I'm glad you like the plush. Keep in mind that many plush makers taking commissions consider a lot of things before designing any part of a plush - the commissioner's specifications, the possibilities of the materials, and even things like how much the commissioner is willing to pay for exact interpretations of extremely complicated manes or if they'd rather keep the plush within their budget but slightly simplified.
Cheers!
