My entry for this year's Sakuracon mascot contest.I didn't win this year, but you can see the rest of the entries here: [link]
For some reason, the managers of the contest don't know how to upload cmyk images for web (convert it to rgb) and that might have costed me points in terms of winning... since the version on the website looks absolutely atrocious.
I had fun drawing something so out of my comfort zone (moe moe~~) and also drawing bunnies. I love bunnies, can you tell? Hipster moe bunny girl is what I call this in my head.
Hope everyone had a happy easter and for those who were at Sakuracon, thank you so much for all the positive feedback on my mascot this year!

So obviously, with compotition like you, I'm not gonna win, (Never hurts to try) so you have to enter for the 2013, even though the 2012 is the next one? It's because the pre-regs have already paid huh? Still, I'm wondering why the best entries never actually win, and sice that seems to be the case... I stand a chance... Anyways you should have won 1st hands down, and the previous too, I wonder how they score the art anyways?

I have no idea how they score, I wish I knew so I could draw something that's more to their tastes! Every year it feels like I'm taking a total shot in the dark....
You should enter anyways! They publish all the entries they get in the booklet every year.

I think maybe the only reason this year was because the scarf made it seem more winter-like than spring-like..? I don't know,that would be the only thing I could think of. I think this was the best for 2012, but oh well.

amazing anatomy and colors! This is a very interesting and cute style. All the colors look great together and it makes the yellow boots and ribbon pop out even more. And i love the outfit

lol thank you ;;; I don't know what kind of criteria the panel of judges have every year for Sakura-con but I wish I knew, so I could enter something more towards their "tastes" because I really want to win....
A lot of people really liked this image though so I'm really happy about that, at the very least.

if you keep what your doing just keep is Sakura related and mostly with the flowers colour corrinated you'll get in there just don't give up .... an idea you can always add a bunny hat like the Japanese were on a new year just a thought

Man...your mascot designs are always really fun and fit nicely with the different types of people who frequent conventions, especially with summer around the corner. As a bunny lover, the whole rabbit theme of the character is just pure awesome to me. Though it may not be your forte, you've nailed down the cutesy style. Sorry to hear about the problem with your files.

Even the background is hipster inspired! awesome. But how could a hipster moe bunny girl of such massively cute proportions NOT steal those Seattle hearts!? It's like their culture in an anime nutshell!! I am disappoint.

I stopped by for maybe 5 minutes on Sunday since I had to rush back to my table in AA, so it's my fault for not staying and chatting (you seemed busy too). I'm small and Asian and blonde and have choppy bangs! I also apologized about the page draw-over drama, lolol.

I love the background and the colors--you might want to move bunnyhipster back a tad since her feet are getting cut off weirdly, though.
The little details like the flowers are great!

I agree entirely about the moving back to prevent weird foot cutoff but unfortunately it was 5am when I slapped her on a background and moving her to the left would make an AWFUL tangent with the edge of the canvas and the strap from the bag. Maybe I'll just shrink the entire image and have more white edge to include the foot later.

Actually I drew this with the glasses intended but I removed them for submission in case people were interested in seeing the big moe eyes... LOL.
In retrospect, I should have kept them on. She's waaayy cuter with her hipster glasses!
