You captured an Orb Web Spider pretty clearly, I see.

Don't worry, here in Australia, spiders can get... eh, pretty frigging enormous.

I think this image sums up what I'm talking about pretty nicely.

It is for that reason why I couldn't handle Australia lol. Fortunately here in Florida Orb Weavers are about as big as we get.

Orb Weavers are still pretty venomous though... Huntsmans are, thankfully, very placid things... being bitten by one's a rare occurrence, but even in those cases, their venom's not potent enough to affect humans. Reasons being is that huntsmans don't kill prey using venom... they chase them down and crash them to death. They're also one of a handful of spiders in the world who have an extra joint in their legs, making them look pretty frightening when they dash...

It was worth the shot. Here in Illinois, the only spiders here are thoughs weak, slow, spiders that live in the basement. You know the ones you can pick up and won't bite you???

Thanks! I have no idea if he would have bit but he certainly wasn't weak. This particular one built a web across a path that was about 6 feet wide!

Of course he wasn't weak! Look at him!! DO IT, LOOK! That thing is huge, again you are so lucky to have such a exotic creature right there.
