Description Lo and behold!  One of my most recent linearts that I, as a matter of prudence, gave to Jasmo for colours! And I so knew it was the right decision, just look at how beautiful this came out!   I can't even!

Anyways, I've had this brand-new idea for one of my oldest original species, the Ctholina, where they like, use huge bioships to travel the universe. Andromeda here, "Empress of Shjeol ", was never intended to become a pilot but I can imagine she'd be great at being one. Here's a bit of info I've written down, to sum up my new ideas:

A bioship is a type of spacecraft or starship. Bioships differ from other types of spacecraft in that they are composed, either predominantly or totally, of biological components, rather than being constructed from manufactured materials. Because of this, they nearly always have a distinctively organic look.

Bioships are usually quite powerful, and can often regenerate or heal damaged parts. Some bioships are intelligent or sentient, and some are considered to be lifeforms. Like most organic beings, many bioships contain large amounts of "scaffolding" materials to keep their shape, such as the xylem in trees or bone and chitin in animals.

The Ctholinian bioship is a space-born creature and neurologically connected to its Ctholina pilots, and together they travel through space and time. Usually, a small group of Ctholina is chosen to become pilots but they never "steer" all at once. Only one at a time out of the group connects with the ship.

Every Ctholina has their own biosuit made specifically for them. The biosuit is basically an empty body, a shell so to speak, which is supposed to protect the Ctholina resting inside. The suit is also neurologically connected to the individuum inside of it and has the potential to shapeshift and harden at will. It is a necessary ability to adapt to whatever environment the Ctholina finds themselves in.

Ctholina are a nomadic species, using bioships to roam space and time.
Ctholina have the natural ability to control atoms and molecules, which makes them one of the most powerful creatures known to the universe. They are also one of the oldest existing species.
Ctholina are hermaphrodites, meaning they possess both male and female reproductive organs. Many Ctholina may choose to build their biosuits with traits associated with either the male or the female gender but others may choose to stay nonbinary.

Amazing picrure . She looks so awesome with her biosuit  .
PS: I'm simply curious, there will be more drawings for Andromeda and the Ctholina species?

HOLY MAMA!!!!

This is a great piece of work, you for the lines and Jasmo for the colours.

Seeing this evokes, to me, inspiration from many sources. The Engineers from the Aliens universe, the Guyver anime and the Yuuzhan Vong from the Star Wars Expanded Universe (which due to The Force Awakens is no longer canon) to name a few.

I wonder what other Ctholinian goodies you have brewing in your head?

Why, thank you!

And yes, you're right; the "Alien" movie series as well as "Prometheus" (generally the H.R. Giger stuff) and a series called "Farscape" have been a huge inspiration for the bioship and -suits. I posted a couple more concept sketches on my Tumblr about an hour or so ago, feel free to check them out. Jasmo offered to colour the bioship as well, and maybe she'll tackle the biosuit armour versions too, if I'm not doing them myself. In any case, I'll soon be able to create a full-on reference sheet on the species, which is something I've been wanting to do for ages!

I honestly don't know what people generally think of the series, but I personally really liked it a lot. It was a tad stupid at times, but the less a series takes itself seriously, the more I enjoy it anyway. Also, Jim Henson puppets. 'nuff said!

The ship looks like a mother with a tiny embryo into her womb, or like a giant animal headed by a tiny cute parasite! XD

Haha, yeah, you could describe it that way. Although, of course, the whole piloting process is a lot more complex than just that.

She did, didn't she?   I absolutely had the hunch she would do this piece justice. And thank you! I hope to be able to post a full-on reference sheet on the Ctholina soon.

Yea. I'd love to see a bio sheet for the species.

Who knows, maybe you can get inspired enough to redo a new Kessian species bio ^_^

Haha, I don't need to redo the Kessian reference sheet, I have a whole friggin' ARTICLE to replace it. It's just that there've been so many new things to add, I'm a little bit overwhelmed. I'm not sure where to start editing that article, seeing how it's become obsolete as well at this point. I really need to get my act together. MK wants me to do the Kanjaari and Kepajaari ref sheet for her as well, so there's A TON of work coming my way this year.

Lol that is true. Speaking of the Kessian article, can you send me the link again? I kindov lost it again when my computer crashed...again. T_T

Well you just need the inspiration to add to the article. I know right now your brain is set to the Yautja/Kanjaari world but I know eventually you will get back to the Kessian world. Lol right now I am a back to my Yautja world and I am re-designing Luar. I have already done a bust now I am working on her new armor and everything. And hopefully when I get my new tablet, I can color her in with my new laptop I got for Christmas! ^_^

And yea I would love to see a Kanjaari/Kepajaari sheet. I like seeing stuffs from you, even though there are some of your stories I am not involved in character wise. Still, I like seeing it.

Haha, dankeschön! Jasmo verdient allerdings den meisten Credit, sie hat meinen Lines die richtigen Farben verliehen.
