shot originally in b/w. cross process script applied/faded somewhat. edit: removed the cross processed colors.. it had to be done, i'm sorry if you preferred it the other way
i went to the train bridge to throw rocks into the river and meditate, basically. i slept most of the day away and needed some fresh air.
:to clarify:
this was shot at night, at 8 second exposure- that light, in fact, was a train's headlight. bastard conductor nearly deafened me.. i finished the shot and got out of the way long before the train got very near to me -- i would have liked to wait longer, but i didn't want to get into any trouble or have the cops called on me.. it wasn't traveling very fast so i wasn't in any danger. but the conductor waited until he was just passing me to blare his horns.. it was really quite painful for the ears.

I liked this shot when I saw it in my deviantWATCH. Now taht I know the story behind it, I like it even more. I just love when people share unusual stories about how they did to get such a result on their photo.
I have to admit I prefered it cross-processed but this version is still really good.

that is a really awesome shot, the light got captured really nicely. and i think the dirty grittiness of the image adds to the feeling of being on a train bridge.

What exactly does cross-processing entail?

its a curves and level adjustment script.. usually just makes the shadows bluer and the highlights get some stylized red/yellowish tint to 'em.. when applied to b/w the shot just turns blue/cyan.

i think i'm using the term meditate in a more general sense.. i don't go into spiritual meditations what with the silence and focus and defocus and nirvana-- i just cogitate.. i think that was the more appropriate word to use, actually..
i go there to cool off, throw rocks into the river.. and there's something in my psyche that likes the foundation of an industrial area.. maybe its movies these days... i just love rusted steel, train tracks, and a huge factory across the river. and i can't well explain it.

the grit - the white spots particularly are from faults in my lens or camera at long exposure intervals.
i did sharpen the image somewhat, though.. which brings that out some. but the bulk of the post processing was that curves script which i faded some.
