I started reading the Vampire Diaries two or so weeks ago (I am currently on number four) and Damon is by far my favorite.I also tried to watch the series (haven't before
), but I only got past the first episode cause it was the lamest I have ever seen! I am told it gets better later on, but I actually have my doubts 
Not to mention the humongous errors they made in the looks of the actors, some of them look nothing like their character. And the few parts I have seen - doesn't match the book but by the names.
UPDATE: I just realized: Damon is a crow, not a raven

I also read the books until the fifth one, but at about the half of it I just said: Okay, put down it, it's a bunch of crap.
What the hell is going on in the "story"? Seriously... I think the series is a lot better, but the only thing I still hope that the series will go a bit away from the books' storyline.. I don't want Damon dead.. T-T

I watched the series finally for it's last episode.
Yes, I still say it is a lot better. 
I truly hope that the series will be totally separated from the books in story, but to tell the truth it already is... At about 90%.
But... I liked to see Damon as a wolf or a crow/raven. It's sad they don't put that in the movie..

I'm in love with Damon book ever since I read the books like 10 years ago and he's my favorite character EVER. It's good to find people that draw about him in his original form (Wolf/Crow). The mistake doesn't matter, it's a great job.

Yeah, he's awesome. Just hope that the books are turning around a little, the latest ones are pretty bad... At least in my opinion, feel like the characters aren't getting anywhere and are just spinning around with the same problems...

As soon as I saw this, I knew you'd read the books! 
I read the books before watching the series and got annoyed too, but I watched the rest and became hooked! Eventhough the actors don't match the looks, the acting is and plot is always great and I suggest you watch them!

But honestly, the books are just getting worse in my opinion, as of now I just read them to eventually maybe get a closure for the story or something. There has been almost zero character development except for with Damon, the rest is the same all the time...
And everything feel so safe, you don't need to be worried about characters dying cause she'll just resurrect them eventually. Neeh, I'm skeptical

It does get good :zest: and one of the reasons the series is so good, is partly due to the fact the plot isn't hugely linked to the books! :humor: Some of the good characters are used, such as Klaus and Alaric, but the acting and plot just makes the series addictive

Yeah, I recognize the problem, most people have only watched the show, and never read the books. And I'm a little split up about the books though

the 1st episode does suck a lot, but trust me, the series are really good. There are some major misalignments between the episodes and the books, but the series aren't entirely based on to the books. I've read all of the book and watch the series, and in my opinion the series are better than the books, that's just my opinion, keep watching, I'm sure that you'll like it

A raven is twice the size of a crow, but they are pretty similar other than that so I could just shrink it down, but I think some of the detail might get lost...

Ravens are small birds, the size of an ordinary jay. Crows can be as large as Eagles.

i did not. i have taken several zoology classes. that picture shows the difference in the animals shapes, not sizes. and if you pay attention in the Vampire Diaries Books and Show, Elena and Stefan both state that Crows are bigger.

Those books are hardly good enough as scientific facts, not only because the crows mentioned are magical and for that reason can be bigger. I don't know how much effort the author put down in selecting crow-species or if it's just any random crow as and animal.
If you look up information on the internet the raven (corvux corax, ca 25 in) is bigger in every way than the american crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos, ca 16-21 in), which is most likely the type of crow they are supposed to be.
Your not the only one with an interest in animals and who has been taking zoological classes

After finishing all the Vampire Diaires books that are out, I tried watching the TV show, only to learn that it didnt match up with the book at all. I was dissapointed with it as well but I have only watched one episode...
Anyways, great job on this! I love it!

Not bad, albeit the wolf/dog looks a bit weird.
Anyway, if you plan to continue the TV show I can only say so much:
If you look for consistency in background, original ideas/supernatural creatures and character development, don't watch it. You will not get it from the show.
If you want drama and crazy storylines (including no main character dying) and also never think to deep about it, go and watch it.
Otherwise it will probably only be enjoyable if you find some of the smaller plotlines interesting or like to speculate about background.
All in all the show is very different from the books I've been told, albeit in some cases I cannot help but think that this and that was only introduced because it was in the books.

Yeah, I realised to late that the angle of the face is bit much, should have been 3/4 profile instead, as it is now his neck is a little broken. Other then that - feel free to tell me what you find weird, anything that can help me improve is welcome
I know the show is very different from the books, therefor I don't know what to expect from it, but my mom and sister likes it and at least my mom has read the books (but I have a suspission is because they like it because the guys are cute 
I read the Sookie-books and they are great, but I also like the show even if it's very unlike the original story. I'll just have to think of it at two different stories or something

Actually your suspicion regarding cuteness is probably right, I think many forgive Damon everything he has done exactly for that. I watch the show but rather for the current Jeremy storyline and because I like to think of stuff for background because it helps me for fanfiction. The main three hold no appeal to me because, we all knew Elena would fall for Damon. As for Caroline and Tyler, I don't get at all where their "love" suddenly comes from, I think they only have it because of this "love between enemies" (she is a vampire in the show now) or because they were together in the book. Because you don't know somebody for years and suddenly fall in love, basically what they show is that these two get thrown at each other time and a agin so far, there is nothing between them based on themselves if you ask me.
Actually I think it would have been more likely if Tyler and Jeremy had something going on.
In addition the show at once speaks of the danger of vampirism and werewolfism but at the same time totally sugar-coats it. They make it kinda like those two supernaturals are simply misunderstood. At least that is how it seems.
In addition they lack deep thought, in the last episode Klaus should have been able to smell Elena, who had been in the room for hours, or hear her heart beat etc.
Either they have no regard for what they have created or they don't know what they are doing when it comes to making sense of the background. Many have said that this and that was out of character, unless they were on some ship (e.g. Forwooders usually hate Matt and every other character that stands in the way of the pair with unjustified passion).

I tend to draw up the "belly-line" a bit much, I know wolves are more filled out but I always tend to make them skinnier - don't know why. It's a work in process
It's pretty stupid, Klaus being a 10 000+ year old vampire who doesn't even notice someone in the same room - how do you survive that long like that. But I guess they think it would be too easy for the bad guys if they new everything.

To be fair I think he is only a little older than a thousand in the show. And in the show an Original vampire (the first vampires) suppossedly can only be killed by a certain kind of dagger and only when the dagger stays in.
Supposedly that doesn't work with Klaus because he is a hybrid between vampire and werewolf (cliche-alarm), but that is weird because prior to the end of season 2 his werewolf side was supposedly dormant and so he couldn't have manifested the benefits of it.

Guess he was a werewolf that got bit, and then the wolf side got suppressed or something (have actually been thinking about that in other cases...?) but I don't know, just guessing.
It's a little the same in the book, except for that in that case there is only one type of wood that can wound him.

Actually no, in the show werewolfism seems to be puerely genetic so far (not that this means much the writers don't show much depth regarding that, suddenly werewolves have heightened emotions despite none of them showing that before 
Anyway Klaus didn't have the same sire as the other original vampires. His mother had an affair with a werewolf. Her husband than went off for you know what and suppossedly that started the "war" between vamps and werewolves. Pretty lame idea, just as lame as that of the Original witch, wouldn't be surprised if that one will look like Elena in the show should she ever appear. Now that witch put a curse on him that represses his werewolfside. To break it he needed a moonstone, a witch to perform the spell and a werewolf, a vampire and a dopplegaenger to sacrifice. He and his brother Elijah placed the myth that this curse was placed on all vampires and werewolves and would be responsible for the whole sun and moon thing.
I doubted that pretty soon because the transformation in the show is excruciating for werewolves and who would really do that willingly. That and that based on the show no witch could channel that much energy needed for a global spell.
Anyway the "real" story didn't make much sense either because 1) one of the myths was Aztec and Klaus had invented that version prior to 1492, 2) no one ever seemed to have noticed that there are several versions of the curse myth and 3) there should be vampires around from before the myth was spread and they should have known.
