...I want your surgeon. Give me your surgeon. Now.

(No seriously. This is the best result I've ever seen. I wish I could have top surgery but there are many reasons why I cant and/or wont. One of them is because I am worried about how obvious the scarring might be.)

Thank you. My surgeon, Dr. Fischer, did a really great job. I couldn't be happier with her. It's been 20 months since my surgery. I'll be going back to see her in May to see if I need a revision. I developed hypertrophic scarring though unfortunately but I'll be starting treatment for that next week.

TransboyZax In reply to fictitious-boy [2009-02-26 21:54:04 +0000 UTC]

after searching on wikipedia I found out hypertrophic scarring seems to be the "red" kind of scar, is that it? (I didn't know there were so many kinds of scars)
if you get a good treatment for this I'm interested. I got a top surgery about 3 months ago and I've been massaging my scars with essential oils since, it's working rather well as the scars can't be seen on some parts but most of them are still red...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fictitious-boy In reply to TransboyZax [2009-02-28 17:36:38 +0000 UTC]

Hypertrophic scarring is hard, raised scarring. It might be red in some cases, not in mine though. It looks ok if my nipples are just "relaxed" but when they get hard the aureoles bunch up awkwardly because of it. Even when they are relaxed though, you can always feel the tough hard line of the scar trace along the edge of my nipple. It bothers me a lot. I went to a dermatologist about it this week, but he didn't feel there was much that could be done. I'm not bad enough to do treatment to, in case the treatment just makes it worse. If after another year it doesn't improve, he suggested laser surgery, rather than corticosteroid injections or other forms of treatment.

If redness is your only problem just now, then I think you're going to have some great scars. Time will take the colour away. They'll probably all fade to white within another six months to a year. People talk about healing being really fast, but really it can take over two years to really see how the scars will heal.

TransboyZax In reply to fictitious-boy [2009-03-01 22:23:56 +0000 UTC]

hmm I see... I hope it's gonna get better for you then, though you look really nice yet

thanks, that's kind of a relief! I've the impression it's gonna be good indeed, the red keeps on fading slowly, if I keep on massaging and "feeding" the skin with oils it should look pretty in the end

fictitious-boy In reply to TransboyZax [2009-03-02 00:20:01 +0000 UTC]

I hope so too. I'm going to be seeing my surgeon some time within the next 2-6months, so I'll talk to her about my results, my continued healing, and whether I should consider having a revision or not.

Yeah if I were you I really wouldn't be worrying too much just now. It sounds really good for three months post op and it sounds like you're taking care of them really well. The only thing I'll say is to caution you about massaging them with oils too much, because it might make them stretch. This is just something I've heard, I'm not sure if it's true. Maybe something worth looking in to just in case. But I think you'll heal just fine. Who was your surgeon by the way? Was it covered?

TransboyZax In reply to fictitious-boy [2009-03-02 11:01:10 +0000 UTC]

Don't hesitate to keep us tuned about it

hehe, I try to honor my surgeon by taking care of his work I was operated by Pr Monstrey from Gent's teaching hospital, he's a great specialist, I think I was lucky to be operated by himself (but maybe is it also because his assistants couldn't, the first time the professor saw me topless before the operation he had a "aow..." expression...)
I had the top surgery and the hysterectomy done at the same time and since I had a health care insurance most of it was covered, I only had to pay €1250 for the whole thing.

fictitious-boy In reply to TransboyZax [2009-03-02 16:08:46 +0000 UTC]

That's an amazing price for both! And Dr. Monstrey, that's fantastic. I hear such great things about him and his team. He's one of the "best" in GRS. Did you have say in which surgeon you went to see, or is it a limited selection because of insurance? I'm fighting to have SRS covered here in Nova Scotia but I know that even if it were covered, I might not want to go to a Canadian surgeon anyways. I want to go where ever I think the best suited surgeon for my needs is. I have dual citizenship with Britain and I've often considered moving there and becoming a resident. For one I love Scotland and that's where my entire extended family live, and for two coverage would be real nice. But I like keeping my options as open as possible, even if does mean paying everything out of pocket.

I had heard a lot about him as well so I was realy thrilled^^ it's a chance I went to Belgium for my studies in fact, if I had stayed in France I should have find a surgeon in France to have the operation covered (there are good ones too but they mostly do one and just one technique so if it doesn't fit you you've got to see another surgeon -if the one you saw is honest enough to tell you he can't operate you). I had my operations covered because I had to take a belgian health insurance (it's almost compulsory to have one here) It wasn't easy to get one since Belgian administration is terrible but it was goddamn worth it and since Pr. Monstre's gender team is official I was sure I wouldn't have any trouble to have the operation covered. but as long as the surgeon is in the country where you've got your health insurance i think it's okay to be covered...
If you've got Britain nationality as well maybe you should use it indeed if there are better surgeons over there. you'll probably have to get rid of your canadian insurance for a while and take a british one though... here in belgium there might be delays of time like the 3 or 6 months following the inscription to the insurance, in this period you're not covered for certain things (to avoid ppl suscribing just to cover one costy operation or what)
I don't know if they have that in Britain but just in case...
