As a scuba diver, I'm usually not too fond of seeing lion fish on dives, with the exception of here. Fiji is their natural home and they are not considered invasive. Nearly everywhere else, however, they've been wrongfully introduced and as they are highly territorial they tend to push indigenous species out of their coral reef homes. Sure, they're pretty, but it doesn't make them welcome! Some dive locations will allow their divers to carry spear fishing equipment and if you wind up getting one they'll cook it for you. I know it seems brutal, but with the other fish suffering from their presence it's considered a service to the natural environment. © 2012-Current.
