This painting was commissioned (can I say that when I'm not getting paid?) by my brother some two years ago. I didn't actually get around to doing it until now.

So yes, I gave it to him for his birthday (which ended up being a month late AGAIN since I was still up on campus when his birthday came around).

So my concept of the End of the World were meteors falling from the sky, smoke sweeping across the cityscape and a swirling fiery vortex that does...something. And yeah, a little girl in a white dress would be standing on a rooftop releasing a balloon.

The balloons are supposed to be symbolic. Each one represents a life that has been released and the girl, painted as releasing her balloon, is technically on the verge of death. But this painting, being completely surreal and stuff, doesn't show the girl all bloody and dismembered.

Kinda...awkward giving your brother the End of the World on his birthday.
