Another one inspired by a place near home, I just love the way the evening light falls on the twisting old pines. It's a lovely place to be, with lots of blueberries to found.
This one's featuring my character Fellnir. I started this a year ago, but I kept prioritising other things, so it took a while to finish. I still haven't figured out how I should have done the foliage (I had the same problem with my previous drawing), but I guess I'll just keep practicing and I'll get it right sometime. Also I set the goal to finish six illustrations during this year, and with this one I've reached it, so yay!

Absolutely wonderful work! :] The huge amount of details and the wide range of evening colours are simply great. It's like you're actually there, just surrounded by the peaceful voices of the coniferous forest. I especially love the way the sunlight is falling on Fellnir. It really accentuates his eyes and his (very realistically drawn) fur patterns. The shading is super cool, too! :3 All in all, you can truly feel his close connection to this special place. My favourite details are the moss-covered stones, the small twigs in the foreground, those greyish strands of hair on Fellnir's back and the tree barks.

I feel like the problem with the foliage is that it seems too uniform, especially near the right, top corner where it seems the closest to the viewer and should be more individual details of the needles. Having more color variation would help a lot too. It seems to be all the same type of green color (excluding the places the light hits that makes it yellower, but still that same tone of green is there.)
But it's still an amazing piece and super lovely to look at with all the details! Stunning work!

oh, this forest atmosphere so warm and dreamy, Fellnir looks really good here! I feel like character and this place have special relation between each other... very "deep" and alive art)
