Saoirse Ronin is an actress, she played the lead in The Lovely Bones. Waterhouse is John William Waterhouse, one of my all-time favorite artists, who painted The Lady of Shallot.

This is SO freaking amazing, I must say! I love the way you captured the wrinkles in the clothing!

Thanks! I just got absorbed by this picture. There are so many little details in the original.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I am usually too lazy to really apply myself to a painting like this, but over the holidays I had the time and inspiration to see this through to the end. It's very rewarding.

Thank you. The colours are different from the original painting, which was more blue but I prefer mauve as it suits her fair colouring.
The muse I use Saoirse's face for is Hel (Norse Death Goddess). I've been reading up on mythology recently. Saoirse seemed a good fit, she has a ghostly look about her and plays characters who are mature beyond their years.

Thank you! I'm usually quite an untidy painter so I'm glad to have gone into this a little deeper.
