Description
Teen Titans Redesigned, Part 2 of 7.
Name: Troia, Donna Troy (pseudonym)
Age: 19
Species: Titan
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Abilities: Superhuman strength and durability, flight and superhuman speed, can create light and darkness.
Gear/Weapons: Magic lasso that enables her to see the memories of others or can make them forget.
Personality: Donna Troy is a selfless individual who is driven to help others in need. She is patient and thoughtful, but often gets too involved in the problems of others. Donna is also a fierce warrior, who will fight to the death in order to protect those she loves.
Notable Family: Coeus (father), Phoebe (mother), Sparta (cousin), Athyns (cousin), Oceanus, Hyperion, Cronus, Crius and Iapetus (uncles), Tethys, Thia, Rhea, Mnemosyne and Themis (aunts), Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira (adoptive mother), Princess Diana of Themyscira (Wonder Woman, adoptive sister)
Friends/relationships: Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran (Starfire, best friend), Dick Grayson (Nightwing, friend), Roy Harper (Arsenal, friend)
History: As the daughter of Coeus and Phoebe, Troia was cherished for her natural beauty and her incredible power. Despite the love she received from her divine aunts and uncles, Thia was tremendously envious of her niece. Fearing what Thia may do, Coeus and Phoebe sent their daughter to the mortal realm for protection.
Troia became the adopted daughter of Queen Hippolyta, the ruler of the Amazons. She was subsequently raised as a Princess and enjoyed the peacefulness of the island paradise that surrounded her.
When she reached her teenage years, her older sister Diana became the heroine Wonder Woman. Inspired by the good Diana was able to do in Man’s World, Troia convinced Queen Hippolyta to allow her to follow in her sister’s footsteps.
Troia was given the starfield her parents had bequeathed her and the magical lariat her aunt Mnemosyne had left for her. She ventured to Man’s World and helped to found the superhero team known as the Teen Titans.
For those who know me, they know I have a soft spot for Donna Troy. I will always maintain the opinion that she is the greatest member of the Teen Titans and will always be the best Wonder Girl. That's why it should really be no surprise that I've included her yet again in another Teen Titans head canon line-up. In this latest version, she continues to be the heart of the team and stands strong as its co-leader. What is different, however, is my approach to the character. Rather than being presented as Wonder Girl, Donna operates under the mantle of Troia. This came about since I decided to actually include Cassandra Sandsmark as Wonder Girl this time around. As such, this moved her from wearing a predominantly red ensemble to wearing something black. It's a bit of a mix between a Wonder Woman look and Phil Jimenez's Troia designs.
Beyond that, I wanted to give her an even more cohesive and organic origin. This meant making her a full-fledged Titan. If we can move beyond the icky factor of her being Coeus' wife at one point in the Pre-Flashpoint continuity, I think it's a nifty idea to have Donna be the biological daughter of Coeus and Phoebe (the Titans of night and the moon). I also gave her a bit of a fairytale-style backstory, with Thia playing the role of the Evil Fairy to Donna's Briar Rose.

She better and if she does they better give her something better than the soccer mom pants they gave Cassie.

We'll see. I imagine they'll probably stick with her Troia look since the show's aesthetic is simpler and more classic than the DCEU's more modern and detailed aesthetic. I also think it's a mistake to wholly identify Donna as a warrior, same with Diana and Cassie. It's important to remember that these characters stand for something greater than punching bad guys. They represent love, equality, truth, and justice, and those things are often not found at the end of a sword.

That depends on which origin you're talking about as I'm not sure if anyone has more origins than poor Donna Troy! Haha!
Most definitely! Given all that Patty Jenkins has said about her film, it seems like she's really interested in exploring the complexities of Wonder Woman's character and especially focusing on the light. It makes me optimistic as she's said from the start that her goal was to create a film that could be likened to Richard Donner's Superman.

Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg wrote the screenplay for Wonder Woman. As such, it could really go either way. Geoff Johns has written some of the best comic books in the past decade or so. However, his work outside of that hasn't been met with the same level of acclaim. Most people don't really talk about his work on Smallville and obviously Green Lantern was universally panned. Alan Heinberg has a lot of experience and can be really funny. His screenplays for Sex and the City really highlight his level of comedic talent (both "Ghost Town" and "A 'Vogue' Idea" are amazing episodes). His comic book work has also been met with a lot of praise. His Young Avengers work is particularly seminal. However, my trepidations come from his lacklustre run on Wonder Woman. It's clear that he had an affection for the character, but he took her in a direction that felt regressive. Regardless, we do know that based on who wrote the screenplay that it will be decently dramatic with plenty of great zingers.
I loved both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. I appreciate both for what they are and find them both to be more referential in their relationship with their source texts. It also helps that both featured incredibly strong performances from an impressively talented set of casts. I don't think either was butchered and, for the most part, don't agree with what critics have said. At least in the way they've gleefully torn down and verbally lashed the films for things that other superhero films are also guilty of, but somehow get a free pass.

Um, wasn't Geoff just an executive producer for the Green Lantern movie? Because if that's so, aren't they just meant to look over the project but not get fully involved? Still, we can only hope this goes well in this case ^^
You loved them? Great Ben Affleck was fab and on top form as Bruce Wayne and Batman, Henry Cavill really gotten me so connected to Supes in MoS and BvS, and his struggles in the latter really moved me, personally. Jesse Eisenberh's Lex Luthor was certainly different, but he's at his starting point in his character's journey . TBH, I can't help but feel the critics are a bit more biased against DC.
While Suicide Squad is my least favourite, I don't full on hate it. There are bits of it that I REALLY loved, especially Harley, Deadshot, Waller, Flash, Bats, and Captain Boomerang with Jared's Joker...I don't have much of an opinion on his performance yet. His character, however, clearly has caused A LOT of trouble for Batman and this Joker having such a deep history with Bats is very interesting

Oh you're right! Why did I think he wrote the screenplay? Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim were two of the screenwriters for Green Lantern. It's kind of funny that both were so quickly forgiven by Warner Brothers and given the keys to the castle with the Arrowverse. I don't even know what Johns' involvement was in the GL film then.
At the end of the day, the films in the DCEU are very polarizing and they will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. I think that a combinations of factors contribute towards antagonism towards Warner Brothers' efforts at a cinematic universe for DC Comics. Ultimately, opinions are subjective. It's possible that some day people will re-examine the worth of the DCEU's films and come to appreciate them. It's quite surprising how many classic films that are regarded as being amongst the best in their genres were initially harpooned by critics. The Shining, arguably the most beloved horror film of all-time, was initially panned by critics and was even nominated for two Razzies. Blade Runner, a science fiction classic, similarly received a tepid response when it was originally released. Hell, even Tim Burton's first Batman film failed to impress a lot of critics.

Cool, Like how you made Donna a Titans fits in with the theme of Teen Titans, I'm guessing in your head-canon/reality is that Troia found The Teen Titans.

Thanks! I'm definitely a big fan of the origin that Wolfman/Perez gave her and that Phil Jimenez later re-worked for The Return of Donna Troy. Her relation to the Titans of Myth was always very cool and it made her unique within the DC Universe in that respect.

Yeah, she had a solid backstory but I notice that DC keeps in changing her origins and now in the new 52 she is the clone of Wonder Woman.

Donna has always had shifting origins. She was first an orphan saved from a burning building by Wonder Woman, then she had the adopted by the Titans origin and then John Byrne made her Diana's magical twin who was subsequently kidnapped by an evil version of herself. Phil Jimenez attempted to restore the Titans origin as best he could. Donna's current origin is similar to John Byrne's, only without all the Dark Angel nonsense.
