This is fabulous! Is it in any way a reference to artists like Joseph Cornell? I immedietley thought of him when I saw this

I have been introduced to the finer points of a cup of tea. I really like this piece. You have a talent for oil. The realism of the box and cup are very well portrayed.

This really is a lovely piece, it's such a shame people have to go off on the wrong thing. I had the same thing come up frequently on some of my digital drawings where people would go off on the fact that I was wrong, they were vector art and in the wrong catagory, etc, etc, without regards for the art and without regards for the fact I knew what I was talking about *sigh* That's people for you, though.

Now, least I inadvertantly do the same, let me get back to the piece The use of color is really wonderful. I love all the different tones and values reflecting in the porceline. The sense of spacial depth is wonderful, too and I love the richness to the wood. It really is a lovely piece. I wish I had more helpful things to offer, but there really isn't anything I would tweak at all.

Wonderful work here, well done! My only criticism is the E signature (I'm assumeing... far too big and distracting to the eye ...) sorry, this is a pet hate of mine ... exacerbated by the italics matching the single point perspective of the box ...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

felixxkatt In reply to Creaseleave [2005-02-11 04:48:19 +0000 UTC]

that was added on the computer, as what is called a"watermark".... it's not on the original, it's there so that if anyone tried to steal it on the computer and claim it or print it they'd have to alter that corner of the image to erase the mark, hopefully deterring some theft. not that i expect that sort of thing here, (right? :[) but i had the image on my website for a while, and wanted to keep it safe.

I just have to say that I'm impressed that you responded to nearly every person who commented on this. And even though you know it by now, of course, this is a beautiful painting. The only suggestion I have is that the base of the teacup(not the plate) seems somewhat flat in comparison to the rest of the cup. But I had to dig even for that. Congrats on the DD, it's well deserved.

damn, thats gorgeous.
i love the box-the muted lettering is perfect, it seems many artsits have trouble with letters in paintings so they usually leave them out, but here it really works. oh, and the wood looks awesome. as well as that little fish. yay! j'adore la!

I missed this when I looked through your gallery. Then I noticed a tea cup in the DD box so I clicked on it because I like tea, then I did a double take when I saw that you did it! I'm working on a tea related painting - everyone is going to think I copied you! Well, probably not because mine it going to be even more surreal.

Teehee XD Americans are stupid. Not all of them. O_O but yes... a LOT of them are. I live here too. I see it every day as I sit back and watch whee.... cute fish! The shading is good too! I thought it was a photo by the thumbnail but then read the description.

If you're on a mac you can get the accented things by holding alt and pressing the normal alphabet buttons, sometimes it will be the little symbol above the letter, when you get that just take your finger off alt and press the letter you want to have the symbol above and it will convert. Windows should have a thing called "Character Map" in the programs>Accessories after start menu Xd

Was it the e you needed accented? My fwend is French ^^ She taught me a few soundings. Including a French nonesence "eaux"

Very nice work. Accents aren't that hard, you just need to learn e accent aigu and go from there.
The details and colour are great.
