Okay, so now I see a "notorious grave robber" who took his time to draw a study of a skull before looting the place. I also see a "nototious grave robber" who took the skull with him (or the skull was part of everything he took) and drew studies of it on his own time, maybe had someone he knows draw a study. Also as "notorious grave robber" and skull together, possibly the "death-of-a-place". Also the "notorious grave robber"'s quality in how he robs the grave is of high quality as the drawing. Many possibilities

I was simply talking about how finding a skull's shading "hot" and "digging" it related to it being a reminder for past studies on the subject. It didn't really come through, I suppose... Well, at least it entertained me
