I had this idea that she as Natalia could try to hit on Jake because he's Albert's son, without Jake knowing that its Alex.
There is also a chance Jake's real mother could be Alex herself, there are several reason why.

Yes, people come up with really strange theories sometimes, like a guy on youtube who made a very complex theory that the Rev2 villain (before its release) could be Lisa Trevor and wasn't joking about it.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about her sex either. When I heard the game was in development I just didn't try to... get an answer before the game was released. I was following the "just sit and wait" phrase.

I liked Alex since RE5 andΒ I just couldn't wait no more, and since I saw that 1st concept art of Rev2 island, I knew it right away, so I was following really close what's going on before the release.

I was also pretty interested on Alex, c'mon! That archive in RE5 was for hype us all, and it worked.
But I wasn't sure about her coming out in Rev2. Glad I was wrong.

The hype for this character was real and IΒ think that's they reason they brought her to an actual game. I just think they waited with Alex reveal a bit too long because by the time of Rev2, 6 years after RE5, the hype was almost gone for most fans and people didn't really careΒ about itΒ as much as they did after RE5. I think many people lost general interestΒ for the series after 2012 when RE6 came out.
2012 might not have been theΒ end of the world but it wasΒ definitely the end of RE fanbase as we knew it.Β

I agree with you. They waited WAY too long.
Oh, and I also lost interest on the franchise right after RE6. The Revelations kept me interested but if those games would never been released I probably say I lost MOST of the interest in RE.

There was really no RE game between RE5 and Rev2 which had a good story. Rev1 was a good/enjoyable game but I think its storyline was pretty weak. Rev1 had a potential to be a good prequel to RE5 lost in nightmares DLC, but instead it had a boring story which had no connection to any RE game at all with many bad/poorly madeΒ characters added to it.
