Nice capture! I think that it would have been even better if you had kneeled and taken the photo at the birds eye level, would have made it have a more impact, or even crouched down further so we would have looked up on the bird of prey, we are so used to see animals from a high perspective so I'm quite fond of seeing photos of them at their eye level if possible (my own highly subjective view of course which I don't always follow myself, sometimes it is just not possible!) Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I'm glad you like my photo. I totally agree with your point, it would have been really nice to take it on an eye level, but here the situation was quite different when I took the shot. I was on an over-cliff on a plateau, when all of a sudden down below I saw something flying and perched immediately at distanced position. With all the rush, I grabbed my camera and took loads of shots. It flew after seconds, as if it knew I had spotted it. Fortunately I managed to get a good shot.

That is the charm of wildlife photography! Love it when you encounter something unexpected Did you get any photos of it when it was taking off?

I have yet to capture any birds of prey yet, but it is on my to do list, just has to get out to a good location, it is kind of tricky when you don't have a car I have been close though! Encountered a Falcon but then (of course) I hadn't yet unpacked my camera, lesson learned....

Indeed.
I deleted a lot of them, I don't think I have a shot of it when it took off, probably I deleted it(due to very bad quality)

It happened to me, not just once, to forget the camera at home, but nowadays, it's always with me.

That is usually the case, I don't know how many photos I have deleted when I nearly got a nice picture of a bird taking off, but generally to slow shutter speeds so it is only a blurry bird, which isn't too nice!

I can't always be bothered carrying around my large lens, takes quite some space and weighs a bit as well, and my dear girlfriends doesn't enjoy taking walks with me when I have my camera with me, it tends to be walk 50 meters, wait for me taking some photos etc. so we don't really get that far

Well I don't have that kind of problem for now with my camera since its I operate mostly on automatic mode. My wife is very supportive of me, even when we walk in the countryside, and all of a sudden I disappear with my camera because of some critter, but then there are times when I have to stop

Hehe ok, mine is constantly on Aperature priority mode, and on rare occacion in Shutter priority

Hehe, I can usually get stuck for at least 5-10 minutes when I find something I find interesting, I don't think she minds when it is warm outside, but as it is now, -5 degrees, she has a problem with it
