PSe is the program I use. And honestly, thank you for the tips ^^ the background is detailed I just hated the fact I used two completely different ways of making the foreground and background rock look and I wanted to hide it a bit xD So it was my bad. I do intend using how I made the foreground throughout my next picture with a rock based background. I would love any help I can get with lava.

I am glad you like the foreground <3 It's my favorite rock look so far.

I do understand the Blur was kind of a noob move xD I just REALLY hated the two (obviously) different styles used.

By PSe, I'm assuming Photoshop Elements... which I've never used.

Don't know if you're on a Mac or a PC, but if you have a PC, there's a freeware program called Paint.NET that I use for layering and most of my effects. I did a *very* quick experiment with the program's photo/glow filters and the pencil/paint fill tool and came up with this: [link] Hardly any detail skill required... that was done with a laptop touchpad.

With lava, you'll be dealing with a massive amount of glow, but a large amount of contrast within it (especially if you have hardening spots or rocks in the lava fall part). You'll want a good range of reds through yellows for a flow like that one, with reds (cooler) being near the edge.

Thank you ^^ Yes Photoshop Elements ^^ I use a PC and don't wander to many Freeware programs just for the fact I don't like using stuff I don't research first. I will look into it though ^^ Thank you!

That is a good practice; keeps your computer intact, if nothing else. Yeah, this program, though free, is legit. No risk of spyware or anything. There's a lot of user-developed effect and file-type plugins for it on the site, too.

That said, I just use it as a side-program for effects and finishing. I still use a Photoshop-like program for shading. (GIMP)
